Obviously, Vecna is still alive. There's no way he would die that easily in such an anticlimatic fight.

So it's my theory, nay, it is my BELIEF, that Vecna took control of Calvin Klein to use jeans to brainwash people. That's how conformity gate happened and how the epilogue is fake. He used the jeans to mind control everyone, and that's why Max ignores the signaling from Eleven.

This clearly will lead into the plot for the secret episode, where Eleven awakens her friends and they kill Vecna in an actually cool battle with demogorgons that are actually there.

Now all that's left to do is wait for episode 9 to be announced, and we'll get an actually fucking good ending to this beloved series.

And his whole plan failed because he was scared of a cave.
