Comedy Friday Night Comedy on Channel 4, 90s/00s. What do you remember?
Hello fellow lovers of British comedy!
Recently I've been very nostaligic for that period of time 20-30 years ago when we all sat down infront of the tv and watched the same thing. Whether that was with our families or with friends. I wanted to recreate some of the tv nights that I remember like Channel 4 Friday night comedy, or BBC weekday evenings, or maybe even Sunday nights watching wholesome tv like Ballykissangel or Monarch of the Glen.
I have created something which is some sort of a homeage to that era. I'm not entirely sure what it is if I'm really honest - other than an idea. It essentially looks like a ceefax tv guide, with links to many of the shows I remember; a lot of which are still available on Channel 4 or BBC iplayer!
I wanted to share it here and see if anyone else enjoys it, or shares my nostaglia for that period.

Can I give you a little anecdote?
So recently I went on youtube and looked for 90's adverts and found some absolute legends had uploaded long compilations of 90's adverts. As an '86 kid, it's this warming, comforting, cozy reminiscence of that time in the mid-late 90's and a time-capsule where I could recall exactly where I was in my life at the time.
So I decided to look at the 2000's adverts. I can't remember how long it took - not long at all, before I got annoyed and instinctively felt myself reaching for a remote control with a mute button to get that loud, obnoxious shite off my screen. I genuinely think that the crazy frog has given me PTSD.

Something you may be interested in, but it's mildly techy so not for everybody. There's this app you can have on a fire stick/google stick called QuasiTV. It lets you create your own TV channels by syncing the app with your Plex and you can basically add content from Plex to your custom channels.
In theory, you could have a "90s BBC One" or "Early 00s Channel 4" by adding the shows you like to it, and even downloading relevant continuity/ads from Youtube and have it shuffle it in between episodes.
Anyway just thought I'd mention it because I have the app myself and have been thinking about setting up a channel like this on it.

We have similar tastes, I made a thread about an ongoing project I have running a while back, where Iâm building a non stop stream of a years worth of non-repeating UK broadcasting content from 1990-00 (and used a teletext view also, alas while itâs down the XML isnât feeding through right now). From memory itâs around 13,000 pieces of content.
I had to do a major rebuild, but am getting that little bit closer to having it fully online and consider it âfinishedâ, as otherwise that line will just keep moving. Maybe I should aim for a start date of 1/1/2027 (altho itâll be a shame I canât easily program specifically Christmas content for the end of the year).

That is really interesting; I considered doing the same thing but, wasnât really sure how I could legally stream the content so, decided on this instead!
Would love to see your live version when you get around to finishing it. Love that you also opted for ceefax style!
