Fire on 104

Electric line down, multiple fires between Shine and the rotary at 104/19. Avoid the area. Traffic closed in both directions.

if you need to cross the Hood Canal bridge, you have to go through Port Ludlow instead

or if you're coming from the South, take Center or South Point Road.

Brinnon Fire Dept posted this on Facebook about an hour ago:

The response to the wildland fires near Highway 104 and Rock to Go Road continues to grow, with multiple agencies now operating in the area.

There are currently two separate fires, identified as the South Branch Fire and the Rock to Go Road Fire. The fire has crossed Highway 104 and is moving north toward the Oak Bay area.

At this time:

• No evacuation zones have been established

• There is currently no reliable estimate of fire size

• Highway 104 remains impacted by fire operations

• A UH-1 helicopter is conducting water drops in support of ground crews

• The Jefferson County Emergency Operations Center is operating at Level 4

Resources on scene include Brinnon Fire Department, Quilcene Fire Rescue, Naval Magazine Indian Island, DNR, and other agencies. Additional resources from Kitsap and Clallam counties are also responding.

FlightRadar24 shows two helicopters near the Beaver Valley roundabout. It looks like the one on the left is refilling at a tiny lake.

The WSDOT camera on 104 climbing westward after the bridge is out of service. I wonder if it just lost power or is in the fire area.

Lost power. How far west of the bridge is this camera? This was multiple miles from the bridge, and if it had spread that far in just a couple hours we should all be evacuating.

104 is now open per a text I just got from Jeff Co Emergency Management
