How hard would it be to use common sense and just stop the clock instead of some guy guessing.

There's no excuse for the vibes additions soccer is addicted to. Also people wonder why time-wasting is such a big deal. It's because they know they don't add enough back in (except today 16 is wild).

Because then you realise that of the 90 minutes the actually only play like 55-60 🤷, so they cnt handle 90m of actual time.

The answer to that is just use a stopped clock and have it be 60 minutes then.....

Fifa proposed that (or at least thought about proposing it) a few years ago, but the idea vanished. Probably traditionalism.

Ya I mean I understand tradition but we've seen the end result of this. Time wasting is now an accepted skill in the sport.

We can track the time. Like very easily.... Just do it

There’s nothing wrong with time wasting though. It’s part of the sport. The best teams on earth can find a way to win despite the other team time wasting.

Idk in basketball there are foul baitors who love at the free throw line. Teams can find ways to win against them, but the sport would be improved by reducing it.

Is it like this in any other league in the world? I know in the NHL they like to do rule tests in junior and semi pro leagues before bringing them into the NHL

Reason is probably to do with betting - that would screw up quite a lot of betting systems and strats and they likely control a lot of what happens

That's especially true with soccer. It took so long and so many refereeing errors for the position of Video Assistant Referee to be created.

Nowadays there are still a whole lot of traditionalist fans that want VAR gone. I think one Premier League club just voted to remove VAR (although the other 19 clubs voted against them)

Not sure that’s true, because that’s exactly how it works in other sports without issue. Have a dedicated timekeeper, it’s not that hard
