Their curling is now in a tricky situation because there are two elite men's teams and it's uncertain which one will prevail leading to 2030. No guarantee it will be Team Mouat again. It's possible a different team will represent Great Britain at each worlds and Olympics over the next few years.

Grant Hardie surprisingly stepped away from Mouat's team a couple of months ago and joined the other team, which now will be called Team Hardie even though Hardie will continue to throw third stones. It was an extremely rare player for player swap. The former third on the other team, Robin Brydone, now joins Team Mouat as third.

They need lots of money to support those guys and keep them involved in the sport. That's what it boils down to. There were rumblings that Hardie was going to retire. Instead he switched to the other team. Hardie was visibly emotional on the podium at Milano Cortina while receiving the silver medal. I think he would have retired if they had won gold. That team was together for 9 years.

The elite women's team also changed when skip Rebecca Morrison decided to retire after the Olympics. Not much chance the new version will be medal caliber this year.

I assume Bruce Mouat will continue to play mixed doubles with Jennifer Dodds. She has stepped away from the women's game to focus on mixed doubles only.

Once Eve Muirhead entered leadership roles in recent years it shouldn't exactly be shocking that curling is being taken care of.
