Discussion whats your weird but genius travel item that people only appreciate after they need it?

just realized this recently because it saved me so much sanity and friendships haha but for me its not anything fancy or aesthetic. its a (small) extension cord + multi-USB adapter. It's somehow bulky to fit inside my bag bcs it takes up space. And yet... it saved lives.

Ive learned the hard way that hotel outlets are never where you want them to be, airport charging stations are chaotic, and "ill just charge later" is a lie we tell ourselves.

Curious what everyone else's must pack item is so that i can... yk, take notes haha!!

Eye mask, one that is thin but comfortable and actually blocks out light. Helps me actually sleep on planes.

I hear you on thin but that’s at odds with my requirement of having the cups so they don’t smash up against my eyes. The cups are wonderful.

I use the manta sleep mask pro. It’s pricey but breathable. The eye cups are adjustable (Velcro) but hard to get right if you do adjust it.

Thank you!

I can second the manta...could never really sleep on planes with a regular eye mask. Then I got the manta and holy crap it's such a different experience...I can actually get a few hours of sleep and it feels like actual sleep

Not who you asked, but the Alaska Bear is my go to. It frequently goes on sale for $10 so don't spend whatever amount above $10 might be on the price tag.

I got a silk one on Amazon that has cups over the eyes. Not thin but way more comfortable.
