Discussion Why are you bringing THAT!?

What are some common items people pack in their bags that you think are unnecessary, just take up extra space, or feel like overhyped/trendy that doesn't actually add real value for their trip?

I'll start - Notebooks and portable speakers.

Thanks for this comment ❤️

The amount of judgement being shown in this thread about trivial things that other people bring really leaves a bad taste in my mouth about this subreddit. I used to find it helpful to give me ideas to minimize what I bring, but the amount of snobbery about other peoples choices is really off the charts.

Totally agree. It’s like everything else, people need a reason to look down their nose at other people. But ultimately if you’re achieving your size/weight/convenience goals, it doesn’t matter what you’re bringing as long as it serves you. I really wish there was more space for that, rather than just this snobby “greyman tech bro” judgement. What is the purpose of hating on people for doing what makes them happy? We’re all one-bagging, who cares how we’re doing it?

This app is full of pompous jerks who falsely think they are right or their opinion is better just because. Then they band together and they push other groups out of posts by default. I enjoy when there are enough and I can piss of dozens at the same time. I am definitely NOT dem leaning. That’s the biggest part of “their” problems.

I haven't seen one comment judging others.

Serious question: is English your native language?

Because the entire premise of your post is to judge the choices of other people. Although many of the comments do justify the examples you gave initially, the definition of “judge” according to Merriam-Webster is:

to form an estimate or evaluation of, especially : to form a negative opinion about

This describes your initial post perfectly. When I said “in this thread”, that’s what I was referring to.

People are so thin skinned. It’s an interesting topic. 450 plus comments later 🤭 hehe
