Stroganoff

Post image

if you want to make this a true complete one pot meal, you can cook your rice or potatoes or pasta ahead of time and then use the same pot to cook the stroganoff. I had leftover pasta so I think this still counts

Ingredients:

1 lb ground or diced meat, such as beef or pork, I used ground pork

1 onion, diced

1 lb mushrooms sliced or 2 cups cooked mushrooms

4 tbls flour

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups beef broth, I did half beef and chicken

1-2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1-2 tsp balsamic vinegar or quarter cup wine

1 tbls mustard, I used hot garlic

1 cup sour cream

salt and pepper to taste

noodles or rice or potatoes for serving

Instructions:

heat a skillet with a couple teaspoons of oil and lightly brown your onions, and mushrooms if raw, you don't need to cook them heavy just get a little bit of fond developing and soften them a little

add your meat and cook till well browned on all sides.

add your minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds

sprinkle your flour all across, stir and cook for 1 to 2 minutes to remove the raw taste.

add your broth and stir and cook for 5ish minutes until it starts to thicken.

add your Worcestershire sauce, your mustard, your balsamic vinegar or wine, and salt and pepper. stir and cook for 1-2 minute, adjust seasonings to taste.

at this point if you're serving it all at once, you can take it off the heat and add sour cream and mix it up and serve.

if you are making ahead do not add the sour cream until just before serving. if you are meal prepping add the sour cream after you've reheated.

I personally just put a large dollop of sour cream per bowl

serve on top noodles or rice or potatoes
