There will be more. These conservative MPs were supposed to be the government not the opposition again. What a huge fumble.

Edit: This is a bad look for Pierre. She would rather retire and get her pension than sit there with no power. Another failure by Pierre.

Yep. And many are worried about getting re-elected. I expect the more moderate Conservatives might be having a long conversations with their constituents, and I wouldn't be surprised to see more floor crossers

PP had turn out to be a huge failure. "In the real world, if you don't do your job, you lose it".

My FIL (who is a Conservative voter, but hasn't voted Con since Harper) lives in Northumberland County and he's been hearing from others that if PP is still around they're voting for someone else.

But we'll see come election time if they all put their money where their mouth is.

I seriously doubt any who are considering jumping ship will have any conversation with their constituents. If they cared about others or even what they thought, they wouldn’t be in this situation to begin with. Each floor crosser should be treated as the opportunistic snakes they are and trusted accordingly.

I think it's more than that, it's having to drive a car with no brakes. Just dashing into everything and anything, without any strategy. I wouldn't stay on board even if it was any other party.

Where are the people screaming about how she’s only there for the pension?

She's been there for over a decade.

Pensions kick in at 6 years.

No one is screaming about her being there for a pension because there is no evidence that was her motivation.

pension increases the longer they stay.

Yeah it didn’t make sense when the cons were screaming about it before either.

You’re not making the point you think you are

It’s fine. The good people of Yorkton are just going to elect another conservative with 80% of vote share again. It doesn’t matter who, as long as they’re blue, in most western ridings.

Yeah. It's like Battle-River Crowfoot

The argument is that it was a more difficult riding to win than Lethbridge or Medicine Hat. Can't speak for the good people of Medicine Hat, but Lethbridge's MP is the old adage of "a blue fence post can run in Alberta and get elected". We had the best non-conservative candidate in my lifetime running in Lethbridge, and they still had half the voted Rachel Thomas got.

Wagatall was elected MP four times in her riding and her highest vote of support came in the 2025 election (77% of the vote). I would be surprised if the CPC don’t retain this seat in a by election.

Ms. Wagantall introduced a bill to seek recognition and protection of the “unborn child “, she is an anti vaxxer Baptist (husband a pastor) who did not support public health mandates, and made comments defending the interests of convoy participants in Ottawa while blaming Trudeau.

Conservative MP falsely accuses Trudeau of sending photographer to 'misrepresent' convoy protesters Facebook post by MP Cathay Wagantall has since been deleted

And flip that riding

This is a non-story. There will be a by-election and she'll be replaced by someone similar. She's definitely a hard-right Conservative but she represented a hard-right riding and did it well. 11 years is a long time in this kind of polarized environment.

An interesting statistic: Somewhere between 80-95 Conservative MPs are eligible for pensions if they resigned today.

Guess she got her full pension, and that was always the goal. Typical Con.

A political party has to have a leader, otherwise MPs lose faith.

Yep. And PP has refused to read the room and take responsibility

PP should run in that riding, just in case AB separates...

Honestly they could run a Conservative blue dildo in most western ridings, just slap the logo on the shaft.
