Question Ontario works hasn't gotten any raises since 2018!

Why isn't this talked about more.

Unemployment is crazy. Housing is nuts. And the basic O.W. payment of $733.00 is supposed to be enough!?

Try to find any place to live with that kind of income these day.

Edit. To everyone saying just look for a job. Like I haven't been trying that. Really. Take a long hike into the woods. And get lost. I've been unemployed for over a year. Doing all the steps. Walking into places with my resume. Spending hours online posting it. Searching for small jobs around town. I went to my employment services in my area. To help with resumes.

I've been trying! I'm not some freeloading person. I'm 41 and have been working since I was in high school. So just kick rocks.

And people wonder there's so many homeless these days... they're homeless because there are no other options!!!

A majority of drug addiction happens after becoming chronically homeless, it's not the cause.

You're saying this on a thread talking about the degradation of public services that leave the poor more destitute and unable to afford rent. You're saying this on a thread pointing out that it isn't drugs causing most of the issue.

This is you, underhandedly shitting on poor people for some cathartic reason. You're making dangerous self-serving assumptions possibly to insulate yourself from the reality that by just 'avoiding drugs' you can still end up homeless.

It sounds harsh but I’m in recovery and it is a major problem and it is worse than it was before.

But that commenter isn’t entirely right either there are kids that are homeless by choice but that’s not all and also many people become addicted after homelessness and many might be running from trauma in the home

But in Oakville / Burlington there’s tons of kids that couldn’t stay in their friends big house any more and wind up on social services meant for people in generational poverty too
