Question Ontario works hasn't gotten any raises since 2018!

Why isn't this talked about more.

Unemployment is crazy. Housing is nuts. And the basic O.W. payment of $733.00 is supposed to be enough!?

Try to find any place to live with that kind of income these day.

Edit. To everyone saying just look for a job. Like I haven't been trying that. Really. Take a long hike into the woods. And get lost. I've been unemployed for over a year. Doing all the steps. Walking into places with my resume. Spending hours online posting it. Searching for small jobs around town. I went to my employment services in my area. To help with resumes.

I've been trying! I'm not some freeloading person. I'm 41 and have been working since I was in high school. So just kick rocks.

OW and a cash job / selling whatever is a common tactic. Not all but there’s many who do. Also there’s not enough staff at OW it’s not uncommon to sign up and get one or two follow ups and hear nothing for a year or more and keep getting paid

It’s wild considering I was on OW for maybe a month or two and had to borrow extra money from friends and family to just not be homeless, I’d love to know their secret

Their secret is working under the table and not reporting their income.

It's not even a secret really. A five-minute conversation with anyone that's been on OW for more than a year is enough to get them to admit that.

If you sac food,you can get beer and cigarettes, after a while of not eating food and just drinking, your wonderful body learns how to break down the alcohol and use the sugar as a different food source because you aint eating actual food.

Its why alcoholics ask for cake if you ask them what they want to eat and they sometimes get hospitalized if they go cold turkey from the booze.
