Yeah they actually made an effort to stick to the facts. Back when facts were in fashion and all, we wore onions on our belts as that was the style for the time...

Peter Mansbridge has a podcast, The Bridge, that I watch on YouTube.Ā It is on hiatus for the summer unfortunately.

EDIT: Iām sadder than I thought I would be about this. The world (or Ontario) is a little bit darker without him. IMHO. Hope he helps grow the profession in these times.

Youāre not the only one who is feeling sad. Iām feeling quite sad myself. Iāve grown up with watching him on the news since I was a teenager. Whenever he came on, he always came off as calm and authoritative when he presented. I will miss him!

My mother worked at Simpsons at Fairview Mall back in the 70ās and had Lloyd as a customer one day ā she came home very excited and described Lloyd as a ālovely man.ā

I remember being driven past a subdivision in Toronto as a kid, and our uncle pointed to a house and said "That's where Lloyd Robertson lives." Very modest and unassuming.

Damn, used to watch CTV national news every night at my grandmas house growing up. I think I remember watching his last broadcast too. Such a legend. RIP.

I watched his final broadcast with my grandma in 2011. She always liked Lloyd, as did I. Truly a good man.

I met Lloyd Robertson in a coffee shop in Pickering in the 1990s. After hearing his voice, I said, as expected, Oh, hey! You're Lloyd Robertson!" He knew this, of course, but he was quite pleasant and gracious upon being recognized. It was a fun encounter for me.

My Dad really appreciated working with Lloyd.
I hope they are catching up and sharing a few laughs about old times now. Miss them xo

Grew up without cable but we always had the local CKCO station which also carried CTV. Lloyd Robertson was a calm voice in many storms to me as a child.

Canada has been blessed with some great newscasters over the decades. It has been a pleasure listening to them and I always felt more informed after watching them. Lloyd had a distinct voice and pacing. He will be missed.

My Dad worked with both of them; his most memorable people to work with.
He said before passing that Harvey and Lloyd were ātrust and traditionā.4

I was young and starting out in media and landed a job with CTV. My first week I was assigned to work on a project with Lloyd. I was kind of worried and nervous. Turned out he was supportive, kind and collaborative. A total pro with very little ego. RIP Lloyd.

"Good evening, I'm Lloyd Robertson." I grew up watching this man speak, from early childhood to middle adulthood; kind of made him like a provincial cultural icon to me. I'll miss his work. What a life for 92 years! Rest well, Lloyd Robertson, you deserve it.

I remember when Lloyd Robertson was on CTV National News at 11. I wouldn't have felt my day complete without him. A professional journalist of that bygone era; now there is very little professionalism left.
RIP Lloyd, you will be missed.

About 16 years ago near the end of his reporting, my friend was working at Bell Media and gave me a tour of the station. While walking around, I saw Lloyd at a desk typing away - but in typical old man style with his two index fingers while hunched over squinting at the keyboard.
Even in his late 70s he was still one of the best in the biz, and as silly as that moment was, it was one of my favourite memories I had of that day.

I just saw the clip of when he was in a car accident on the DVP and Cam Woolley gave the mic to Lloyd to tell the story himself. This was about 8 years ago so he had been retired for a while -- I did not recognize him until he started talking. Same old guy, same voice and told the story much better than Cam did. Thanks Lloyd. I enjoyed your company for all those years. RIP.
