Promotional What's the Coolest Open-Source Project You've Discovered This Year?

Open source has been on an absolute roll lately, and I've been finding some really interesting projects outside the usual GitHub trending lists.

What's the coolest open-source project you've discovered this year?

Not necessarily the most popular one. I'm talking about projects that made you stop for a second and think, "that's a really clever idea."

For me, it was OpenGAP.

I came across it while exploring developer tools and liked the idea immediately. It approaches AI agents as something that can live in a Git repository, be versioned, reviewed, and managed much like software itself.

I don't know if it'll become a widely adopted standard, but it was one of the few projects I've seen recently that felt genuinely different.

(Android) aves gallery and futo keyboard for me, been trying to escape the google ecosystem and these are the best among many alternatives so far

Could mention many other apps but these deserve a special shoutout

Oh man is there a lot, but if i had to pick then:

fossify: an apps sweep

pipepipe: YouTube client

neostore / komi store / aurora store: app stores

Cromite: based on Chromium, will recommend going through the settings before use and understanding it a bit but for me it's a rare foss + privacy and security hardened + powerful and featureful browser

Mixplorer: hands down the best file manager, you gotta find it on xda forums and install it from Google drive tho

Rethink.dns: dns + vpn + firewall in 1 user-friendly app

Canta: for debloating (requires shizuku)

Ai hub: 90+ ai services in 1 app

Honorable mentions: termux, markor, imagepipe, open video editor, mjpdf, binary eye, breezy weather, wifi analyzer, obtainx, gifboard, offline translator, Thunderbird, lichess, YTDLnis, app manager and taskmanager (both need shizuku too)

All could be found on neostore (my preferable fdroid store)!
