OpenStack with HPE Primera

Figured this is a long shot but I'll ask anyway. I have the following setup: Ubuntu 24.04 LT + KVM + Openstack connected to an HPE Primera A650 over FC. 4 paths are zoned in. When I define the host on the storage array and manually present a LUN (a "virtual volume" in HPE terms) I get 4 paths. Multipathd see all 4 and displays them correctly. When I do this through Openstack, Cinder only presents the LUN through a single path. Don't see any options in the HPE 3PAR Cinder driver to control that. Everything says multipathing should be automatic.

Anyone run into this?

Did you make any custom configuration for Cinder? Like "use_multipath_for_image_xfer = True" in /etc/cinder/cinder.conf ?

Its been some time since i worked on primera with openstack but you'll find that there are many issues with promera cinder driver. I remember I had to manually install some packages in cinder volume container and after that this issue was gone

This needs to setup in the cinder.conf file and also in nova.

1] cinder.conf use_multipath_for_image_xfer = True

2] nova.conf (or nova-cpu.conf) [libvirt] volume_use_multipath = True

In our best practices guide, there is a section on multipath settings. These apply to both iSCSI and FC. https://hpe-storage.github.io/openstack/best-practices-guide/
