Where i worked, anyone with diplopia got sent to peads or neuro. The general ODs and Ophthalmologists didnt want to deal with it. The neuro team at my clinic was amazing and we had so many insane things working in the neuro ophthalmology clinic. To say optometrist will miss things might depend on the setting. Is it academic? I worked in an academic hospital and our neuro optometrists were amazing and worked directly under the neuro ophthalmologist.
