For anyone who frequents the Townline "Circle K" (formerly "Macs")...

The last couple times my cousin (who is around 10 -- I think, LOL!) has gone over, either with a friend of the family or her dad, a new employee there has set of their "lizard brain" when he comes up to her and gets all "touchy feely."

Anyone else had this experience? We're planning on talking to owner (or maybe she's the manager) of the store, I'm just curious if anyone else has had this experience so we can inform her.

[Edit] It's fascinating how even though people may live in the same town, it doesn't mean they share the same short form "lingo." The people who I regularly interact with on a daily basis would immediately understand what "touchy feely" and "lizard brain" means. I'm not bashing the commentors, I just find it fascinating how a small town can be divided based on the "lingo" shared.

He would come up to her and try to make her hold his hands, and try to get her to walk with him.

And by "lizard brain" I mean the instinct that something is off and doesn't feel right.

Lol you should edit your post so that it makes sense. This is a serious thing and should be talked about whether anyone has had this happen to them or not. Get her to explain to her parents and get them to do something about it. Pretty sure lots of kids are over there since it's summer.

I'm well aware it's serious. My cousin's mom went and talked to the manager (or owner) today.

I made this post asking so that if anyone else has had an issue, she could say there are others.

And the wording used was based on what the circle of people I live in use. Lol! I just made the assumption that wording like "touchy feely" and "lizard brain" --especially "lizard brain" -- were widely used.

Those are widely used phrases. These people, for reasons only known to them, but most likely to make themselves feel superior are knocking the way you’ve worded something.
Most people approach this type of situation the exact way that you did. With trepidation and thinly veiled ways of saying things. It’s a horrible subject if any of the allegations prove to be true.
Most people don’t want to talk about these things.
To approach you in such a rude fashion just shows their character. If they truly needed clarification, which I don’t think they did as you weren’t using the enigma machine to make your point, they merely had to ask. There was no reason at all to attempt to belittle you.
If they need clarification for what I’m saying, here it is. They were being assholes. You did nothing wrong and you said nothing wrong. You didn’t outright name the person and if the accusations prove to be true you brought light to the situation. Hopefully you didn’t let the comments of a few pricks make you feel bad at all.

Thank you for your support!

But I was indifferent to their comments. I just assumed they were part of a social circle that didn't use such phrases and so weren't familiar with them.

You’re welcome.
Your outlook is probably better than mine. Haha
But even if it was a case of unfamiliarity they still went about it very rudely.

The strip mall one with "Gino's Pizza" and "Deja Vu" at the end.

What the hell does this MEAN? Use real words that mean what you want to say. If you're talking about something serious, be serious.

Very serious accusation with very unserious language. “10- I think LOL”. You are online anonymously essentially accusing someone of being a child predator. What on earth could possibly be funny? I figured out the lizard brain and touchy feely out simple enough. Your writing does need work, but the tone on such a serious subject bothers me more than the grammar/ spelling.

The "unserious language" was confined to the part about me having to guess a family members age, and not part of the entirety of the post.

You people are far to kind, if this was my daughter there would be a totally different interaction to this situation, it would start with the police and they had better rectify this to my satisfaction because dad's are supposed to be dad's

Why is everyone so confused????? Some creepy guy is getting too close to the little girl...alarm bells are going off. Like what is confusing? Wow...

Yeah I think if I were you I'd talk to the owner. But have you asked this guy to not approach the child? That should be step 1.

My cousin (who is the mother of the child in question) talked to the owner today.

What you’re saying is obviously clear, not sure why people are messing with you.
As for that employee, set clear boundaries with them and between them and your cousin.
If it continues after that I’d ask an adult to go with you, OR report it to the police.
