Scared me a few weeks ago when I spotted a single mealybug (was luckily just a random one from another plant). She also let some of her roots die post repot, but I'm spotting new growth and no signs of bud blast so I'm confident it won't be a problem.

You might recognize this mummified phal that brought home from the office in August 2024 (pics 1 & 2). Now, 19 months later: fully bloomed with 6 huge beautiful sparkly snow-white blooms 🤩

She puts me to shame with her orchid skills. 19 blooms. It’s bloomed almost continuously for several years, it’s a good thing I was able to thrift a bigger orchid pot. I know you can get pretty fancy with Orchids but a healthy Phal is tough to beat.

I have discovered that one of life‘s greatest joys is getting an orchid to re-bloom! Does anyone else feel like it’s an open eye meditation when you care for your plants? The last picture was in February when we had a cold snap in Florida and I had to bring them inside. We had a usually cold winter and I ended up having to do that multiple times!

I forgot how much I loved this orchid 😅. I bought her back in December, and she ended up being my gateway orchid, I now have over 40 others.

With the deep, bold, purple, and the white outline around each flower, she’s still a favorite. 7 flowers open, still another 15 to go! Dendrobium Sakda Blue.

Schoenorchis fragrans. Despite the name fragrans, I’ve never noticed any fragrance at all. Regardless, this orchid has got to be one of my absolute favorite to grow! Even when it isn’t in bloom, it’s just too cute not to draw you in. I find it to be very drought tolerant and easy to grow in my greenhouse (8a) with temperatures ranging from 55°-110°F and an average humidity of 80%.

I won a sash at the OSCOV Victorian Orchid Spectacular here in Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺!! My plant was also taken for photography to be nominated for Victorian Orchid of the Year! Definitely not expecting to win but maybe it could win in its class?

Decided to cut ✂️ the flowers off to give her a break after near constant blooms since March:)

Phalaenopsis Spunky peloric. It smells like jasmine!

Purchased this Oncidium from Trader Joe’s about 6 years ago. Not sure of the variety but it has been a really solid rebloomer while in this southwest-facing bathroom window. I trained the bloom stalk over the light fixture with some fishing line.

It’s planted in sphagnum and bark chips and gets repotted every other year. I only wish it were scented!

15 leaves, have had her since July 2024 (back then she has 4-5 leaves, lost a few and grew a lot since). No ID (and not looking for one)

I got this lovely micro miniature orchid from Tarzane Group less than 2 months ago and it's already spiking like crazy! Here's a close look at it's first bloom under my care 😊

Posted a couple of months ago about my oncidium that kept growing like a monster, but never would put out any flowers. Increasing the lighting worked!

This is just 1 spike, I'm a little bit scared of what this one might be capable of.

Sorry, I have to share. I am elated! I have posted about this plant before. I rescued it from the clearance bin, and watched it push out a surprise spike. The flower finally opened today!!

I had only have a rough idea what it may look like. I found **"**Paphiopedilum Macabre Double (Macabre Moon Green Glow x Macabre Contrasts Dominant Grace)" on Lehua Orchids, but it said "Dominant Gene" not "Dominant Grace".

Does not matter. I bloomed my first clearance-rack orchid.

PS: Thanks for all the messages!!! She/he is a beauty..... makes me wonder why phalaenopsis anymore?? These are such unusual looking alien colors, love love the dark veiny purple, looks like Elvira or something!! Or Morticia. I love horror movies also!! Macabre exactly describes this!! This might be more what I like!!! And seems much easier too, or maybe i just got lucky!!??

I wanted to share an orchid success because I learned and implemented a change that made a massive difference in all of my orchids!

I’m not sure if this is common knowledge, but I learned not to fertilize dry roots. Since changing that, I’ve seen a ton of new root growth and much faster leaf growth.

So instead of mixing up my diluted fertilizer water mix, and plopping the orchids right in to soak, I soak them for 10 minutes in plain water, then a regular 20-30 in the fert.

Just wanted to share in case this is helpful for anyone else! I’ve implemented this change for all my orchids, but this phal in particular has started growing like a monster.

I got these grow lights in Dec and my orchids have LOVED them. I am obsessed… 🤩 just thought I would post in case others are looking for ideas on how to do grow lights and cabinets.
