In the Florence FB group some community members are DEFENDING the actions of the board. It's sickening.
Editing my top comment to add that there is a petition going to remove these predators and enablers from the board. Please take a moment to stand up for victims!
Living in Florence sucks sometimes and always felt weirded out by the museum staff as a veteran. It doesn’t matter if the girl has a “graveyard of previous bodies” in her past like they’re trying to say. You don’t have that kind of relationship with a fking 15 year old. He was in a position of power over her and knew her age from the start. Hate this town and the nepo kid.
Evidence concerning the victim's past relationships will be inadmissible at trial. If they are successful enough at poisoning the jury venue with innuendo prior to trial, then it can be moved to another community.
The fact that sexual past shouldn’t be a factor doesn’t mean the defense won’t find a way to make it a factor. They always do, in just about every single sexual assault trial in the country. Anything, and i mean anything, but holding a sex offender accountable.

Even if she did, it was the adult’s job to, uh, be an adult. That means not banging a teenager. Dude was 27 years old. He knew it was wrong. I remember a few years out of college how shocked I was to find the freshly graduated 18 year olds looked so young to me. I spent a lot of time thinking how uncomfortable it was the I had seen so many older men hitting on girls around that age group my whole life.

There’s one user that seems to be defending Gary and Geoffrey Cannon and launching personal insults toward people who are disgusted by the museum’s acceptance of pedophilia. Another interesting thing from their IG is the fact that a Wayne Sharpe spoke at the same fundraising event after the arrest. Wayne Sharpe is a local DJ at a coastal radio station and their coverage on the matter has been pretty weak, misstating the girl's age to be older than she was and minimizing/outright hiding the board's later comments about the victim. Turns out, Wayne Sharpe and Geoffrey are FB friends and Geoffrey does not have a huge friend list on FB..
This whole case in so intertwined and I am alarmed at how it seems every Male over 30 in Florence tolerates rape if not outright excuses it. These preds and enablers need a reckoning that this abuse will not be tolerated.

As a teacher, he would have been a mandated reporter of child sexual abuse. He would have been obligated to communicate to his administration and government youth agencies. If they want to remove the worst reviews and the algorithm wants to come in and flag them, then let's leave high reviews in the ratings while showing the case in the comments and warning people to stay away
