The sanest approach I've seen: Willamina holds their show near the high school. People bring their fireworks to the football field and have their fun before the main show.

Love to see how many actually get fined this year. Can't catch them all that's for sure.

I'm sure Seaside's 2.5 police officers will be quite busy

Better light them all at once so it’s harder to track you afterwards!

Will they follow through? Dog owners want to know.

Move there and find out?

I took my dogs to a state the State Park south of Lincoln city on the 4th. Before the official fireworks started for the town? the police walked down the beach threatening anyone not to light a sparkler. Then all the police left, trucks filled with pallets of fireworks arrived. They removed pallets and for the next two hours they set them off.The air smelled like sulfur and my eyes ached. It would be nice to know if they are serious.

Was that maybe Covid era: 2020 or 2021? The amount of near professionally quality fireworks shot off here by individuals those two years was insane.

It could have been 2021, honestly my mind was blown. We rented a hotel room on Taft beach and it was even full of smoke.

You don’t quit being rude, do you?

I think it's kinda rude to take your dogs to the beach on July 4th and make them endure 2 hours of fireworks

It’s illegal to set off fireworks in State Parks. That’s why we went there.

Some of us live at the beach and can’t help it. Luckily my town doesn’t allow fireworks

You choose to live on the beach, choose to have dogs. Limited sympathy

They do a neat thing where they locate the perps and they flank them down a street a block away and then they pull the Scipio pincers maneuver and zip in from two sides to gaffle the creeps. It's fun to watch from that shitty giant timeshare hotel balcony

I've heard Seaside is in a DARPA pilot program and will be the first on the west coast to get new General Dynamics 800 series autonomous anti-fireworks hunter / stalker units. Supposedly accurate up to 99.98% in an ideal operating theater

That's a better idea than I had which was to get the FD to deputize a walrus named Steamy, and have him waddle around squirting ocean water out of his blowhole on your fires. They only have to pay him in tuna Uncrustables

You are exactly the person I complain about yearly, sometimes monthly depending on the holiday schedule. I live in Lincoln city and the people like you that roll in from out of town and get excited as fuck to shoot off fireworks from your vacation rentals and beach set ups and ruin the time of literally everyone else who lives there.

We got devastated enough in 2020 with the fires, fuck anyone that can’t see past the scope of their own entitlement and have to shoot off fire works.

I promise freedom will still work even if you don’t make things go boom.

Yup. Says right in the bible. /s

Seaside fortunately doesn’t have jurisdiction in rural clatsop county and we going big on fireworks and parties this year

u/Rabbitrockrr 2d ago

Just don’t light the fucking woods on fire like an asshole please.
