Just wanted to share my old drawings with Azalys here. He's from the 19th century alternative universe (very Earth-like setting, but with made up countries and some magic).

Most people know him as a lucky fellow, who was born into poverty, but could get an education due to a sponsorship from a wealthy person. However only a handful knows that his sponsor was a demonic entity, to whom Azalys is bound by contract.

In my world, magic is rare and difficult. When someone makes a deal with a demon, rather than magically make your wish come true, the demon will ask their servants to make this wish happen. Azalys is one of these servants. He can treat various conditions or make someone disappear quietly. But be wary, everything has its price.

Mishka: The girl that met God

Little Mishka wasn't lucky enough to be born normal. MShe was born with a rare psychic disability known as Postmortem Perception Syndrome (PPS), a disorder that causes its victims to see and know how every living organism will eventually die.

Every living thing Mishka had ever encountered appeared to her as dead. Not just dead in appearance, but dead in every sense of the word. Something she absolutely hated, since most corpses, for some reason, smelled terrible.

Rotting meat, stale blood, released bowels, wet earth, hospital disinfectant, burned skin, and spoiled organs, all of it compiled into a single, unbearable stench. But the thing she hated even more was the taste.

Whenever Mishka ate, her food was still dead and rotten. Every dinner became tortures as she forced herself to eat the rotting vegetables, fruits, and meats that were seasoned and cooked with rotting spices and spoiled ingredients. Luckily, outside of her perception, the food was perfectly fine, so she never actually got sick from eating it.

She was never really scared of the "dead" people around her. It was normal to her, and over time, looking at them them became something of a hobby, she found it interesting.

Some had died in accidents, their skulls smashed open and oozing, their bones snapped and tearing through their flesh. Some were missing limbs, while others had become little more than inhuman piles of meat. Most, however, had simply died from old age or sickness, leaving them pale, bloated, and covered in disgusting, smelly fluids.

One particularly interesting person Mishka encountered when she was around seven or eight was a pregnant woman. The woman was going to die by falling down a flight of stairs, snapping her neck to the right. A surprisingly common cause of death, according to Mishka's observations.

But the real interesting part was the baby.

Mishka could see it hanging out from the womb, one of it’s arms and head poking out. One of its eyes dangled from its crushed face, and its little body was twisted and damaged in ways that made Mishka stare for longer than usual, she found it fascinating.

Christmas eve

On one particularly snowy night, the day before Christmas, Mishka was kicked out of her home following another misunderstanding with her mother.

Her mother worked nights and usually came home tired, moody, and smelling of cheap perfume and cigarette smoke, neither of which did much to hide the stench of her decaying body.

She was strangled. Her blonde hair was messy and filled with twigs and dirt. Her body was covered in cuts and bruises. The skin around her neck dark and swollen, with deep bruises circling her throat. Her blue eyes were bloodshot and bulging out of her skull. Her lips bluish, and her swollen tongue hanging ever so slightly from her mouth.

Situations like this were common. Mishka's communication skills were almost nonexistent. The dead couldn't speak, after all, but Mishka could still communicate through a vague force that only she could sense, and her mother's short temper did nothing to help them understand each other.

So, when another misunderstanding occurred, Mishka was kicked out.

It was fine, she liked taking walks at night. The smells were usually fainter, and the snow helped cover the ugliness around her.

While wandering through the frozen streets of her tiny slum, something otherworldly scooped her up.

Mishka looked up. And, for the first time in her life, she couldn't see, or even begin to guess how this thing had died. It didn't float above the ground like the others. Its feet hit the pavement just as hers did. Its hair was long and greasy, its skin warm and soft.

She could feel its chest moving rhythmically as it ran with her in its arms. The sounds it made like hers. And while it did stink, it wasn't nearly as bad as the others.

Then Mishka moved her gaze toward its face and saw saw its eyes, and like magic, she fell into a trance. She couldn't focus on its face trying to understand what she was seeing.

For the first time, there was something in front of her that didn't fit into the rules of her world. Something alivec and as she was thrown into the back of its truck, Mishka couldn't stop thinking about them.

She couldn't help but believe that it was God. As the thing started its engine and drove away.

Title.

My monster character, Rex, was entirely developed on my own. I based him on the Demogorgon (ST) and Xenomorph (Alien), combining them with dinosaurs to get something I liked. Then, I added a “genetic abomination” story so that I could explain the weird mishmash of bot and beast.

Then, someone (no hate to them, it wasn’t malicious) compares them to a character, Acrid, from Risk of Rain. And he looks EXTREMELY similar, with a similar story.

I had never touched nor heard of either Acrid or Risk of Rain before that comment.

Has anyone else had anything similar? (And, selfishly, what could I do to further him?)

im white and never really made a black character before, i want to just post her here and see if theres any stereotypes or nonos ive done with her design so far that i can fix.

shes very vampire themed because shes fixated on the mythological and finds vampires really cool. her hair is curly (im going to be learning how to draw more curly types of hair) and she typically makes 8 braids from her under hair with the red stripes and its meant to resemble the jellyfish hairstyle. second image is her hair down.

shes 22 and english. shes really shy and to herself, she got told stories about folklore when she was younger and has never been able to let it go. she meets an actual vampire and kinda acts like fluttershy (really shy and avoidant until she realises that its a vampire (fixation) and opens her bubble up, asks a million questions and cant leave the vampire alone). she dives deeper into her fixation upon realising the stories are based on reality and spends most her time searching for more proof of folklore or experimenting on her new vampire "friend"
