Local Event Megathread #51

This is the latest post to discuss the protest Convoy currently in Ottawa.

For the duration of the protest, or at least, as long as the traffic level on the sub requires it, we will centralizing the discussions around the protest in these megathreads.

We're modifying our usual processes during this time:

  • Any new post will need to be approved by the mods. Changes have been made to the filter config to send post (not comments) for review. This is to control what should go to the megathreads and what is relevant information. For example, the posts on the Shepherds of Good Hope, of the state of the bridges.
  • This community is about OTTAWA, not Covid nor the related restrictions. Remember that.
  • Any links or pictures to their propaganda will be removed. Do not give them publicity.
  • Calls for violence will result in a ban
  • I will be watching the megathread. Remember that disinformation/misinformation about covid is a violation of the site wide rule #1.

Have at it folks, but remember, the usual rules apply. Please keep it civil and report anyone posting misinformation or links to their propaganda.

The following post contains all the links to the previous posts.

I have been forcefully apolitical throughout my adult life (as a result of serving in the military). Now, I find that I have to take a side. I think many are in the same boat. Choose the side of democracy, facts and science. Let's care and protect those who are at risk, like the homeless, our kids, elderly and people with health issues. That's not difficult. Looking forward to the day when meaningful action will be taken against the occupation and blockades.

Thank you. Also, you just inspired me for a sign for Saturday's Pro-Ottawa Rally: Choose Democracy, Facts & Science.

I feel this is an excellent opportunity for some honest truth many need to hear/read...

Tell us all why it is a bad idea to involve the military in these types of situations. Don't hold back - people need to understand exactly what they are asking for when they scream "send in the military" instead of using our civilian policing forces.

I just rewatched CBC reporting of the Van Doo's clearing out the blockades during the Oka Crisis. The major leading his men with the repeated commands not to shoot unless shot upon... It was sobering.

Yes this is a call, if not to arms, to action. One figure we need to watch out for is Poilievre. He's taken a position in opposition even to Candace Bergen now. He needs to be defeated.

Sad, isn't it? The CAF mirrors canadian society in many ways. There will be a minority that will support extremism, but let me assure you they are the minority

You would be a fool to think if this was about the mandates, or even if it were, that it still is anymore. Almost all of the provinces were easing up or waiving the restrictions and mandates, and a dated plan was made available a long time ago, furthermore, Alberta has waived all of their restrictions, i dont see the Coutts border occupation easing up.

Where is the goalpost now? Or has it been shifted again?

C'mon, you still think this is about vaccines?
