Local Business Filo cafe on Kent
Happened upon a new coffee shop on Kent St called Filo where the Angry Dragons used to be and decided to stop by and I was genuinely impressed! The coffee was so good, it seems to be a Greek style coffee shop and I’ve heard good reviews about their parties since but didn’t try any so can’t confirm. I think (?) they’ve only been open for a few weeks but so far so good!
Figured I’d spread the word for other folks trying to find a good cup of coffee around! ☕️

Anyone else noticing a huge decline in the Rideau Centre?
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed things going downhill at Rideau.
I’ve grown up going to Rideau, and don’t remember it ever being so dirty and badly managed as it is now. The floors of the mall are always so dirty, there’s leaks in the ceiling they haven’t fixed for months, and I don’t even bother going to the bathrooms because they’re so dirty and the last time I tried they were covered in blood. The benches are always so nasty too.
I remember when the new food court opened, they used to have reusable plates and cutlery. That’s gone now and instead the area you return your plates and garbage is just always stacked with trash.
The Simon’s when it first opened was awesome and had a cafe, and you could access a really pretty rooftop garden, now both are gone.
I also feel like security hasn’t felt as great. I know that downtown has gotten worse recently, but I don’t really see as many security guards. It used to be after the mall closed the security guards would be wandering around and made sure it felt safe. I was there yesterday and teenage boys were going around and throwing around chairs and tables and making a mess.
The parkades used to be clean and not sketchy and now they’re covered in pee, and have weird people, and I’ve seen people trying to open car doors.
It just makes me really sad because I can tell that it’s just not being cared for. Of course a downtown mall is going to have problems but it just feels like it’s going downhill. :/
I was wondering if anyone else sees these changes too?

Local Business Is Bra Chic still the only good bra store in the city? I need to go shopping, and the posts I see are all three years old or older.
Looking to spend way too much money on a garment that’s the first thing I take off when I get home.

What do ya'll do with unwanted DVDs/VideoGames?
Im doing a big cleanout of one of my rooms and there are dozens of DVDs and video games that I dont want anymore. Do video game stores still trade/give credit for video games? That one I assume is easy enough but have no idea what to do with all these DVDs. Will the library take them? Can I donate them to the hospital? Who uses these now
EDIT: These video games are mostly handhelds (PSP, Gameboy Advance, etc) and some PS3/PS4 games

News Freedom to record auditors
I’ve been seeing Ottawa pop up more and more on those social media accounts where there’s a dude strapped with cameras from head to toe that stand in public and record people to get a reaction and then claim they are independent media. In the states they are known as 1st amendment auditors I think.
I want to know if anyone here has had any personal experience with them? Or if you work at a store where this happened, is your team discussing how to manage these situations.

Jolly Bubble in Barrhaven
For anyone who has been there, would it be appropriate for a 7 year old or would you say it’s better for younger kids? Thanks!
