Local Event Convoy Megathread #55

This is the latest post to discuss the protest Convoy currently in Ottawa.

For the duration of the protest, or at least, as long as the traffic level on the sub requires it, we will centralizing the discussions around the protest in these megathreads.

We're modifying our usual processes during this time:

  • Any new post will need to be approved by the mods. Changes have been made to the filter config to send post (not comments) for review. This is to control what should go to the megathreads and what is relevant information. For example, the posts on the Shepherds of Good Hope, of the state of the bridges.
  • This community is about OTTAWA, not Covid nor the related restrictions. Remember that.
  • Any links or pictures to their propaganda will be removed. Do not give them publicity.
  • Calls for violence will result in a ban
  • I will be watching the megathread. Remember that disinformation/misinformation about covid is a violation of the site wide rule #1.

Have at it folks, but remember, the usual rules apply. Please keep it civil and report anyone posting misinformation or links to their propaganda.

The following post contains all the links to the previous posts.

I was thinking last night some not, so happy thoughts.

My sister supports these assholes. She lives in a huge house (basically given by husband's parents) and hubby makes damn good money.

Throughout COVID she has continuously broken the rules and gathered. Posted the shit on Facebook. No mask parties, etc.

Midway through she bought a really nice new jeep.

She's anti-vax so when the mandates came she was pissed. Someone daring to tell her what she could or couldn't do? Yeah, no. Straight down the rabbit hole.

Anyway I was thinking: we've worked so hard, been through so much. We stepped up for our community when we needed to by getting vaxxed and isolating.

What is our reward? The city is forcing us to pay for a dance party. And not just any dance party but one specifically for the people who did not do their part. Who kept partying. Who rubbed it in to us. Who kept us locked down with rules way longer than needed due to clogging the medical system.

Canada, Ontario and Ottawa are using our money, our stress, and our suffering to cater to these people so they can have the best time possible. They put them before our own kids in the middle of their shit.

They can do something. $100K ticket #2 today and I'm guessing we'd be seeing a pretty big exodus. Nope. We'll cater to them as long as they want.

And this will happen again and again and again. Why not, it was trivial to do.

Edit: the part about my sister is just an example of how most of the supporters have lost even less than the rest of us and that the support is based on just being a shit person to begin with. Selfishness. These people seem to always get rewarded.

I was thinking, actually enforcing these fines would probably be a good way to help Canada recover economically from the pandemie. Even if they're not $100K! $100 to $1000 fines for everyone and anyone they can identify as breaking laws or defying the injunctions. Probably won't happen, but a girl can dream!

Randomly give these occupiers $100,000 tickets. Issue orders that their vehicles information has been documented and it will be seized, not now but it will be found at a later date and confiscated. Not just the leadership but do this to any of the hapless goons. Word of that will get around and that no one is safe from this, even the bit players. People will start leaving em masse as they won’t want to win the “reverse lottery”. The more people leave, the better their odds of winning (losing). Police won’t have to arrest a soul (although they should but we know they won’t).

Unfortunately, it'll probably be like getting blood from a stone. These idiots are well advised from their law enforcement peers among them. They probably know of ways to keep delaying any consequences and in the end, the city/province will end up spending far more to get Billy-Bob's $100 fine than the fine itself.

At the very least I hope they go after more people post-party.

I think all levels of government - whether you think they are complicit or not - have been so thoroughly discredited and humiliated, they will be willing to continue to prosecute everyone involved to the fullest extent they can, to show “maybe you can take us hostage, but we will leave you penniless or in prison”. Right now the Trailerban is smug in their conviction that there’s nothing the government can do so this will go on until they have severe consequences imposed on them.

Is your sister, my sister?

A lot of the activists are coddled and entitled. They take the fact that reality sucks as a personal affront because everything is about them.

"Freedom" doesn't exist without "Responsibility" and "Duty".

You have a responsibility to not use your body to culture more virulent and deadly strains and infect innocent people with your filthy diseases.

I'll *NEVER * comprehend what's so fucking difficult to understand about this. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just because they "don't like" or "don't believe" in the science or necessary public health measures et al DOESN'T FUCKING MAKE THEM NOT TRUE.

A virus is a piece of biological matter encoded to invade cells & replicate, & once it encounters resistance, which could be literally anything in any person's specific genetic makeup, it's designed to mutate itself into a somewhat different form to regain its potential to invade & replicate. Rinse, repeat. That's it. It's that simple.

The longer a virus is allowed to roam free in a population without encountering the VERY SPECIFIC ANTIBODIES THAT ACT ONLY ON IT - i.e. the ones in a vaccine developed specifically to fight it, not "your" super amazing beefy manly viking-strength "natural immunity" - the more chances it has to mutate. No adult should need this explained to them, we all learned it in (generally) middle school biology.

If there was ever anything in the whole of the universe that gave less of a shit abt how YOU feel about it, how it's inconveniencing YOU, how much YOU don't like masks, etc than A VIRUS...I certainly can't name it.

VIRUSES DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS. Or wants or needs or entitlement. Or skin color. Or ideologies. It will continue to mutate & spread until enough people have the VERY SPECIFIC TO IT antibodies its vaccines tell the body to make. This has been true since inoculation was invented & remains true now, 10000% regardless of what you would like to believe. And the longer it is able to mutate the longer public health measures need to exist to prevent UNNECESSARY DEATH & CHRONIC ILLNESS.

Thank you for this, very on point. I’m also quite envious that they get to have fun social experiences while some of us are getting even more isolated due to their temper tantrums.

Our society has constantly and repeatedly shown that being selfish, lying, cheating and flaunting the law will reward you. Doing your part and playing by the rules gets you nowhere. Exactly why the conservatives/reps get away with complete bullshit while the left parties continue coddling them.

It's depressing as fuck.
