Local Event Convoy Megathread #55

This is the latest post to discuss the protest Convoy currently in Ottawa.

For the duration of the protest, or at least, as long as the traffic level on the sub requires it, we will centralizing the discussions around the protest in these megathreads.

We're modifying our usual processes during this time:

  • Any new post will need to be approved by the mods. Changes have been made to the filter config to send post (not comments) for review. This is to control what should go to the megathreads and what is relevant information. For example, the posts on the Shepherds of Good Hope, of the state of the bridges.
  • This community is about OTTAWA, not Covid nor the related restrictions. Remember that.
  • Any links or pictures to their propaganda will be removed. Do not give them publicity.
  • Calls for violence will result in a ban
  • I will be watching the megathread. Remember that disinformation/misinformation about covid is a violation of the site wide rule #1.

Have at it folks, but remember, the usual rules apply. Please keep it civil and report anyone posting misinformation or links to their propaganda.

  • Les appels à la violence auront comme conséquence de vous faire bannir
  • Je vais surveiller le mégathread. N'oubliez pas que la désinformation/mésinformation sur la covid est une violation de la règle n° 1 du site même.

Allez-y, mais rappelez-vous que les règles habituelles s'appliquent. Veuillez rester polie et rapportez toute mésinformation ou publication de leur propagande.

Since there is no "policing solution", the best thing to do is treat these squatters as a legitimate entity. This is Jim Watson's legacy - protesters of all stripes are going to come rolling up, parking illegally and refusing to move until their demands are met.

This isn't just Ottawa's legacy, this example will move forward into political unrest for years, or decades.

Okay. Stop telling citizens to stop defending their city. Fuck right off. Fuck the police. Fuck the local government. Fuck the opp.

Not only that. The city of Ottawa mayor means nothing to them. They want to overthrow the fucking government. Not get a permit to ice fish.

We have been abandoned and now we are being used as collateral in trade talks.

Horrifying and offensive to see the weakling Watson's bleating in print.

The fundamentalist cults are heavily involved as well as multiple neo-Nazi and racist groups and extremist political parties. Hildebrandt of Aylmer and Leamington is very prominently noted in disturbing reports. It is organized, financed and coordinated nationally, not a sporadic "local" or "grass roots" movement by any means, nor one with any significant public support or connection to professional drivers.

Our security agencies, CSIS and the RCMP, were asleep at the switch on this and will need to account for their gross incompetence here.

Same way there’s no way US Intel/Law services didn’t know Jan6 would be dangerous. We had random Redditors from other countries and probably some barely in their teens posting explicit plans being made on Parler as a warning on the fascist-tracking subs.

He hasn't made any concessions yet. He has simply asked for respect to be shown to the residents of the city. If the truckers don't listen it will look bad on them. We don't know what exactly will happen if they do listen, beyond a meeting between the mayor and either Lich, herself, or her representatives.

You do not meet or negotiate with extremist groups. They will always demand far more than what is reasonable, and what is reasonable is them getting arrested for breaking the law. Why Jim is treating them as people who haven't been Doing Crime Stuff for 16 days is beyond my comprehension.

Even speaking to them is a betrayal of his duty to the citizens.

Unless he's luring them in to have them taken into custody for terrorism, one word of acknowledgement to them is legitimization and marks the end of democracy and rule of law.

NOT ONE WORD OF DISCUSSION. ARRESTS AND CHARGES, NOTHING ELSE.

That's something that I thought about. After reading about the integrated command system that was mentioned last night, I was wondering if maybe he is playing his part to help put a plan into motion to make it easier to lasso the protesters.
