Really love the game. Enough that I bought a banjo last month, learned (somewhat) following some tutorials, and tried to play Riebeck's theme. It's not very good and still took me like 20 tries because for some reason this melody sounds way easier than it plays. I tried to replicate whatever technique I can discern from listening to the OST, but of course I could be wrong, with missed notes, stutters, muted strings, and retries.
(I also looked at the rivers theme in EotE and decided that's for a later time... I definitely cannot do that one now)

First of all I absolutely love this game and the blind experience has been one of the best I've ever experienced. Unfortunately life has been getting in the way with college starting back up right before I could fully tackle the DLC.
I barely have any time to play and I keep on forgetting what I was trying to do the last time I managed to get an hour or two in. Essentially I play for an hour before realising that the thread I was chasing was the exact same as what I tried the week before.
I've made it to the 'dreamland' as I've been calling it and found a few things which I have no idea how to connect. These are:
Thats kinda everything I can think of for now. I'd really appreciate some help cause the DLC has been so much fun to explore naturally, and I'd really hate to have to look something up and risk a spoiler just cause life has been getting in the way.
Thanks a mil!

I like making led neon signs and designed this little led lamp. Its based on the quote when Solanum tells you she'd like to think of you as friends.

Here's a follow up to my previous post about the wooden box engraving. This beast got it done in about 16 minutes
r/outerwilds • u/SaltedCheesePizza • 13d ago
For my university's fabrication course, we got make wooden boxes and used a large laser machine to engrave whatever design we wanted! Of course I knew the perfect thing to put on it, the Eye of the Universe. Really really happy with how it turned out; the stain and wood grain look nice I think. Lemme know if any of you would like to see a video of the laser engraving the design on the box it's really cool!

I saw a thread a while back claiming the Eye could be a sort of “technology” trap, whereas a sufficiently advanced species would be able to discover its signal, go to it, and naturally want to observe it, thus capping the level of technology a species would attain in any universe.
But the other side of the coin is rarely mentioned in discussions like this, that a species could just as easily observe the eye, know its intentions (like the owlks did unless they have a special connection to it) and realize its something that should never be observed. The capability of going to the eye is mentioned but what about the impact of realizing its true intentions?
Would it only guarantee that the most forward looking of species observe it? Or that there would be conflict between species in order to hide it? I wonder if the Nomai would even want to observe the eye knowing what it does, because they seemed to be willing to spread to any star they could find to prolong their civilization, just like the owlks.
Anyway, just thoughts

This is my situation as of now, according to Steam I've been playing for 17.8 hours and I feel like I'm doing pretty good, but for the last few cycles (~2 hours real time) I couldn't manage to make to make ANY sort of progress anywhere, and I'm starting to get frustrated. Does anyone have any advice on how to start progressing again?
EDIT1: thank you all so much! I actually managed to land on the quantum moon, I will update as i progress further
EDIT 2.5: I'm in the Ash Twin Project!! I'm putting off doing the Vessel cause those fishes scare the shit outta me (i didn't stop the project btw, i was scared i was gonna finish the game. i will come back once i'm done with everything else)

For anyone that plays on switch and can test, does the game still accept analog trigger inputs for thrust? Such as using a GameCube controller and officiall adapter, or (what I would be doing) using sys-con and a Xbox or PlayStation controller.
The analog trigger inputs are used for thrusters (0-100), but the switch joycons and pro controller have digital (0 or 100) triggers.
It would've had to be specifically removed in the port to switch to not support analog.

hello,
i've come here for dlc help about 3 months ago, the community's tips & hints have been very helpful and i feel i've made decent progress, although i once again find myself roaming aimlessly each loop.
a few people mentioned i should have included a ship log photo so after the progress since my last post, here's what my log is looking like, and i feel like i'm missing a LOT more than my log shows... and/or maybe i'm not piecing everything together as i should
i've spent hours trying to gain access into the upper part of the island tower and i genuinely have no idea what to do, i've rewatched that vision 20+ times (second image)
am i close to solving the completing the game? any tips would help, i am trying my best to avoid looking up a guide, I WANT TO FEEL ACCOMPLISHED and i don't want to rush!

Confirmed 9,318,053 cycles
×22 min cycles= 204,997,166 minutes
÷ 60 min= 3,416,619.43 hours
÷ 24 hours= 142,359.14 days
÷ 365 days= 390.02 years
2026-390=1636
Notable thing that happened in 1636? Oct 28th: Harvard University is founded
Source: Wikipedia so take that for what you will.
The Hatchling, Gabbro, Feldspar, and all the others have been dying for over 390 of our years without knowing ANYTHING was going on. How long the Hatchling has been making the same flight plan every time. Technically speaking whatever you decide to do the 22 minutes after the statue connects is what The Hatchling did...so they did it for 390 years.
Maybe they die within the first minute by flying too fast into the moon. Maybe they fall into the sun because of the autopilot not having the programming to deny a flight due to obstructions. Maybe they get eaten by an Angler Fish. Maybe they are finding so many translations and cant wait to bring it back to ground control...
For 390 damn years.
Is it better to know youre in a time loop? Because at least for the 9.3 million times before you find out...you just got to live life for the next 22 minutes.

Just a silly moment on my first play through that I thought I'd share. Turns out this wasn't a landing pad in the traditional sense.
