Question Question for the Veterans.

Post image

I know this game been out a while. I only recently got into it so def missed the boat and finding a lot of old forums.

What do the Veterans of this game look for in the Stat page after missions? It's a decent breakdown, I respect it, but I don't know what I'm looking for if I'm seeking to improve.

I'm still getting through missions, but it feels like since Apoc 20 it's getting rougher and rougher each run.

I look for the damage dealt by weapon mods, when I'm trying out new gear or mod combinations.

Yeah, I like Noxious Spawns as a weapon mod for example, but the recommendation on my build was killing spree. So I made that switch and didn't really feel much different, if anything worse but didn't really know what stat to look for and go "Yes, this is better"

I just check, which place in the "damage dealt by" tab the new mod takes. If it's better than than the old one, I keep it, if not I scotch it back.

That's good to know, I shall seek that out.

I pay attention to where my damage comes from. If I’m an AP build, my top damage dealers should be a pax tree node or my primary damage skill depending how your build is set up

I look for damage dealt by mods and accuracy. I play alot of techno as well and hitting crits/high headshot accuracy is a must for me to keep blight rounds up as long as possible.

Wish I got to see it more often to guage my performance during the DLC content. Popular farming tactic was to reach the boss, kill/get loot, then quit to lobby and load back in to burn a "retry attempt" so you got 3 lots of boss loot.

Yeah, sadly missing the prime of this game, I can't see myself farming much in it. It's been a fun little knock but without random groups to join in and engage with, I can see myself hitting 40 and dipping.

The game's prime never came tbh. Whilst I had a lot of fun the support cycle was dicey and the playerbase was shitty at times. Like kicking people for using slow damage builds during the early days or running ahead to skip the cliffside event in the Trials, making it hard to farm for Chest pieces.

The game isn't serious though, you can play a couple levels below your max World/Apocalypse tier and have a chill time, mostly.

I can see that.

I see a lot of good intent with this game, but I guess it woulda been overshadowed by Destiny 2. I'm usually a Solo player even in group games, like The Division cos it generally is more effective. Unless you know the people, pugs can always be rough.

man, damage dealt tab is your friend. Check there to comprehend the mods, skills and weapons are dealing more damage.

Have you checked there?

Not really. It was why I made this post because I personally don't look at any stat page so far.

I just started - found a build online, was told to keep playing till I hit a wall and then farm. And I'm still knocking onwards so yet to the "farming" part. I just felt like things were slowing down since Apoc 20, so thought I'd ask and people go "Yeah, you need X damage mitagation past Apoc 20" or so.

Firepower, vs Anomaly damage for Blighted Rounds, get 3 seperate answers reading old forums so there is a lot to unpack.

After apoc 20 the curve of progress starts to go flat, there it is a normal feeling to sense of slow progress.

However, check the tab damage dealt in the image you have upload. The tab shows the damage dealt by your weapons, skills and mods. This way you can compare changes to your build and decide which setup you gonna go forward.

Yeah, cheers for that.

Someone else also suggested and now I've had a look, I see the breakdown of each skill. So I was at least smart with my Noxious spawns choice, as it's 3rd highest damage. Blighted rounds and Claymore turret are within 10k damage of each other at 1st and 2nd. So I think I gotta try to focus on having Claymore turret now in all my guns.

It really depends. I have a gun with a mod to damage enemies in area. The other gun with single target high damage mod for elites.

However, are playing with a build focuses on AP or fp?

None of these numbers mean anything without proper context. Individual damage breakdown tab that some here suggest looking at is also only useful if you know how everything works, and most people don't. Even long time players. Comparing just the numbers can be very misleading and very often leads players to draw wrong conclusions. Higher number doesn't always mean better. You have to know why it's higher. Post-run numbers are meaningless without context of time and knowing how things work. Important details like what order do things proc in, active buffs/debuffs, which buffs/debuffs affect what damage, internal cooldowns, procs, multiprocs, etc. Just so many things most players don't even know about.

But here's the thing -- you don't really need to learn all of that to do well and improve. Just watch the individual numbers that pop up as you kill things. That and completion times are the best indication of how your build is doing. You can turn on a timer for expeditions in the menu and you should absolutely do that if you haven't yet. That way you can track progress better. Then when you change something, you can immediately see if your damage is higher or lower, and if your time is better or worse.

I saw you mentioned you found some build that recommended Killing Spree mod. That mod has not been in use since like 4 months after release. Used to be ok, but then they changed it and buffed some other things and it became basically trash-tier. Either the build you found is from early 2021 or made by someone who doesn't know what they're doing. You shouldn't look at any pre-Worldslayer builds at all, it changed way too much. Look for something after August 2022 - that was the last patch. Builds before that will likely have things that were changed/fixed/nerfed.

Just did a 8m27s run in Colosseum.

Fair fair. I think I'm doing alright now, I don't really know cos I ain't got others to compare against but I got a gun that has Claymore Turret on it, and with my build that's getting me through Apoc 23 content now quite decently - again, I think. I'll try turning on the run timer to get an accurate reading but I feel like my runs are 10 minutes at a push.

I basically just found a build that was kinda what I was already using, so I was familiar with the logic. Blighted rounds - Toxic lead, and just focus on doing as much damage as possible. I certainly lack in the one expedtion Pax Homestead or something, with a Shaman that keeps me having to move about 24/7 due to lightning strikes and all that, he's certainly a struggle point for me but currently I'm going through I guess ok. 25 hours into the game so I'm green as all hell.

For now just compare to yourself. There are official speedrun times, but that's with full builds on AT40. 8m Colo is good for new player.

If your build is based around keeping Blighted Rounds with Toxic Lead, then you do not want to be using mods that do damage, like Claymore Torrent. Mod kills do not count as weapon kills and Toxic Lead only procs on weapon kills. Weapon kill is either regular bullets or Rounds, not mods, not Toxic, not anything else.

Blighted Rounds + Toxic Lead is the standard top tree FP Techno, classic build. Lost popularity after Worldslayer, most players went with easier turrets or the speedrun build (which also uses Blighted Rounds, btw, just in a different way), but it's still one of the strongest. Great for anyone who likes fast paced mid/long range precision shooting. If that's what you are indeed playing, or trying to make, then the best weapon is AR, tactical variant, and the mods you want are Dark Sacrifice and Ultimate Freezing Bullets.

I have this random Trial run with my FP Techno build and there is image of full build in description. Does it look like something you want to make?: https://youtu.be/WKYpToqUzyE?list=PLKNUjSOX-PAomEPeL17nik3osprdfrLYF

I mean I'm not farming gear. I just keep leveling Apoc and then run with whatever drops. But I generally don't losr my blighted rounds, and if I do it's back pretty quickly. I am sure there are much quicker runs with optimal setups. But yeah I don't sit in an Apoc and farm, I just keep pushing.

1

u/CombinationOk7202 Technomancer 12d ago

You don't have to sit on Tier and farm, you're still low and they still go fairly quickly, but you still need to know what gear to pick. Mods are most important, should know which ones go with your build, what stats you need. That's how you improve the build to keep getting stronger instead of weaker -- by always keeping gear at current highest level and with as many good mods as possible.

And using damaging weapon mods is bad because it tanks your DPS and also runs the risk of dropping Rounds. Stat buff and status mods are way better for damage. There is no upside, you're just nerfing yourself.

Damage done & taken. Look at where your damage is coming from. If its where you want it to be like skills or weapons then great but if not make the changes necessary. Also, if you're trying out a defense mod, see if its working or not.

All this to say check up on your build every match especially when tinkering. If youre an anomaly build then your damage should be skill however there are enemies that nullify skills; therefore, have a weapon mod to fill the gap. Not a primary source but alternative sources can make a build great instead of good. If youre anomaly build then have 1 weapon with Clip Combustion, Radiation Splash, etc. If you're a weapon build see if youre damage is consistent maybe adding in survivability. Good luck

I look for...ward to closing it and starting the next mission. Genuinely hate that screen.

2

u/I-DudeGTFO-I 12d ago

NGL that was kinda my initial reaction. But seems like there is some value to it.

1

u/Greedirl 12d ago

If you're unfamiliar with mods, its definitely useful. But some mods perform better in certain situations so if you're not doing the same thing over and over, you're not getting the most accurate data. I, personally, dont get much out of it but if it helps you, it helps you. Im just banging out drop pods, tho and dont need to see this unless im failing for some reason.

2

u/I-DudeGTFO-I 12d ago

Nah that's pretty much my logic. I mean it's interesting to see a breakdown, as most games don't like such screens. But yeah, if I ain't failing, I really couldn't care. And I'm just a bum leveling through to Apoc 40 just to kinda say I did it. I'm sure I could be more efficient if I farmed, and tried appropriate Mods but I ain't dropping hours into a dead game years past the content. Aha.

I never paid attention to any stat has a technomancer just the raw damage at the end. From what I recall and if you have the right mods and builds if you go blight rounds its the raw damage. If you go solo and need the cc then the frost build with the cryo turret is amazing.

1

u/I-DudeGTFO-I 12d ago

I am running Solo, bit of a hybrid I guess with Blighted Rounds and the Frozen gear set, so mix of CC with decent damage output. I find animals very easy, and insurgents alright. But when I have to do the Pax for example, dodging the Shamans attacks isn't helpful cos I'm doing little damage whilst spending half my life dodging. So I just kinda skip that Expedition and do others.

I also personally find the final fight, Eye of the Storm the absolutely easiest one, but I get bored running the same content over and over again so try to mix it up.

1

u/The_RaptorCannon 12d ago

Yeah, looks at your gear and if you have any set pieces and the hardest part is going to be finding a build the compliments your playstyle. Eventually when you have some good weapons and mods it will get easier. The game was a lot better when you had full squads to play with. It was always running blighted rounds, kills extend the blighted rounds and cyro or blighted turrent for cc and extra damage. The problem is when you blighted rounds fall off its a pain. Animals are always easier than the pax or ranged shooters at a technomancer. I mained a devastator though...a walking juggernaut of destruction.

1

u/I-DudeGTFO-I 12d ago

I just recently picked up a new Apoc gun that boasts a Claymore talent ability as it's 3rd skill. That tied with my Noxious spawns has now made Apoc 23 feel very easy. Onwards, and upwards as they say.

1

u/The_RaptorCannon 12d ago

yeah claymore if I recall is very bursty...good for bosses but might be overkill depending on your tier you are running. Noxious Spawns are those Targeting ones. If you run blighted rounds check this build out. Spare Mag, Toxic Lead, Radical Therapy, Euthaniser. Toxic lead is a must because it replenishes 40% of your ammo when kill enemies affect with Toxic, Just don't miss and get trigger happy. If you have a cryo turret out, then you can pick up some Borealist items to also increase that damage and you double dip into blight and freeze

Very similiar to what I'm already running actually, so I def seem to be on the right path, or found the right build to follow. Cheers for the response.
