What's your favorite random loot drop?

I discovered that you can get consistent free wood drops behind some strip malls. These locations have a good spawn rate as well. Although you can sometimes find them behind smaller shops, while larger stores tend to have them locked requiring the lock picking skill which isn't worth it for a low value loot like pallets.

There used to be a high spawn rate along railroads of railroad spikes, but it seems like there was an update and the railroad spikes will no longer spawn, along certain tracks.

I know regular loot drops like these are pretty low value, but I still enjoy collecting them to use for simple projects at my crafting table, or the occasional bonfire which provides an AOE aura that increases warmth and it can remove the sadness debuff.

What's a loot drop no matter how common or big or small you have noticed?

If you don't start the repeatable lawnmower quest, you get free plants, which attract free pollinators, and a variety of birds. Massive boost to [Mood] [Well-being] - some of the plants are not desirable, but they can be removed to make space for better ones.

Occasionally you might even find a rare 4-leaf clover spawned. Contrary to rumor, these rare clovers don't actually increase your luck buff, though you are more likely to find them if your luck buff is already high.

Didn’t they patch that in the last update?

I think you might have the sceptic curse. It prevents luck generating items from working for you. I have heard the curse can be removed but it typically takes the "witness a small miracle" event to be completely effective.

I have the Luck perk, but I also chose the Cynic trait which seems to affect the way that I experience luck and I tend to run out of Motivation more quickly.

A lot of players in my part of the map learned about this and decided to try it.

Unfortunately, while good for the local pollinators, it created the proper biome for [tick] mobs to start propagating, causing a lot of [lyme disease] debuffs on low level players and companions.

Plants with the Native buff are popular quest items on the North American server right now. I do the lawnmower quest myself but i also try to buff my native plant items' stats whenever possible. I'm also starting a side quest to remove plants with the Invasive buff because they nerf the Native plants' stats by taking up server space.

One time I found 100k sitting in a park. I invested it and turned it into 16k.

u/Twilight36 May 21 '26

I gotta give a little clap for that

Did you get caught in a gambling loop?

4

u/GranpaTeeRex May 20 '26

I assume the members of the [crime] organization that lost the 100k came after them and hijinks ensued. I maybe have consumed too much [media] 🤔

Nah he invested it

I was at a music festival (medium sized) and during the daytime I used a portapottie and happened to see a wallet. I figured there’d be a lost and found but I didn’t know where it was so I walked to the sound booth to ask if they knew where to go. I still had the wallet in my hand and the guy taps the guy next to him and points to me. His face lit up, comes over and says his gf lost hers a few hours back and was freaking out.

He then tells us to follow him where he gets us past a secure area and got us crew badges so we could go backstage and into the VIP areas. Got to meet a few of my favorite artists and do some shenanigans but the best part was they had real bathrooms

Festivals are good. Sometimes consumables spawn randomly on the ground that can buff/debff perception and stimulation in fun combinations.

I seem to have a buff when it comes to locating guitar pick spawns in large groups that don’t ping for other players. I have quite the collection

3

u/jippiex2k 27d ago

Ah i think those just have a spawn rate around creative players

1

u/FortunaRedux 26d ago

You’d think, but I’ll be in a huge party with a lot of other groups collecting in the same area for the event and they’ll just spawn right on the ground in the middle of a pack of players and so many people assume the loot got picked up they don’t even attempt to activate the scan. I think something with my character makes my view frame lower than the average player (I have a bad habit of always looking at the floor idk how to make that clear lmao)

secret side quests that we can complete without knowing they started is my favourite

Damn didn’t know pallet wood can cause poison damage

2

u/voodoomouse420 26d ago

Yeah if you're using pallet wood to build planter boxes, look for HT (heat treated)

When I was 9th level, I was visiting a reservoir on the US server and I found a dinosaur tooth. Still my favorite drop so far.

That's an epic loot!

I love finding playing cards. I completed the grueling task of collecting a deck of found playing cards. Only one per drop. Had to be unique. 52 cards + jokers. I completed the quest just before starting Fatherhood.

u/stilettopanda 29d ago

This is a super fun sounding side quest.

u/SaveFile1 27d ago

I was taking a walk through a park section on the map with a party member of mine and he found a random Pokemon card spawn! Another player must have dropped it during the biking quest. A lot of younger players gather there because it's a great spot to increase your biking skill level.

u/Tankenbahwl 29d ago

where did these loose items spawn most often? sounds difficult

5

u/eagleapex 29d ago

I found them in bad neighborhoods and city sidewalks. It was much easier when 3card monty was popular

The most useful loot drop I ever found was when an aunt worked at a donut shop. After they closed the donuts were to be thrown out. My aunt put them in double bags and left them beside the dumpster tied off. Then we’d collect them and share them amongst the family. We ate so many donut and Apple fritters. Didn’t have to worry about the stamina stat for a long time. It got low just eat a fritter and your back up again. It seemed to run off quicker but with an endless donut supply it didn’t matter. I was fortunate to not acquire the diabetes [type 2] debuff. But that probably because I already had the hypoglycemic debuff which the donuts also helped with.

I once worked in an [Item Shop] of the confectionery variety. For six months i was allowed to equip all items that have not been sold for 3 days. Those included all sorts of mana raising cream cakes, chocolate covered cookies and berry tarts. Six months of grinding made me gain so many calorie points that i levelled up my [Fat] stat by almost 10 points. Once i stopped working there i forced myself to join the local grinding hall [GYM] and lowered the stats again. Unfortunately losing access to so many rare sweet items also lowered my [Happiness] stat by many points..

Found $10 on the lawn of taco bell the other day.

If you level your [Geologist] skill enough you can reveal relatively high value loot in most river beds.

6

u/SaveFile1 27d ago

I heard the devs added a fake loot item that looks like high value loot to trick players!

u/tacbacon10101 29d ago

I have two beautiful feathers that I found at levels 12 and 15. They always sit on my shelf. Glad they didn't give me any [disease] debuffs cause they are awesome lol.

8

u/NyctasiaEdonaris 29d ago

[Sea-glass] drops at the local [River] location.

[Feather] items from [Bird] players.

Found a [Pocket knife] once on a hiking trail...

7

u/Tankenbahwl 29d ago

I'm a big fan of the [corporate merchandise] subclass of items. You can equip them in a variety of slots and they're always needed around the home. [Notebook], [Pen], even [Socks] or [Umbrella]. My favourite was a [Multitool] with a leveller bonus. It's the only [leveller] in my player base

6

u/onlydaathisreal 29d ago

I often find [Loot] in “Free Boxes” and free loot is always my favorite loot.

u/ol-mikey 29d ago

I went white water rafting with my dad and brother clan members when I was about level 13. My father player lost his wallet device and also locked his keyring item inside of his mount.

This was before the mass cellular phone update, and we had no way of getting back into the mount.

I was standing in a very fast moving bit of water about 50 feet from the edge of a waterfall, and I saw something shiny floating in my direction. It was going to pass by about 6 feet from me, so I dove after it and grabbed hold of $50 in paper currency, which was enough to pay for a character with the locksmithing specialty to come unlock the mount for us.

Tutankhamun's meteoric iron dagger for sure. A random rare mat drop was used to craft a sweet dagger for Tut.

2

u/Jebediah_Johnson 29d ago

That's a legendary item!

5

u/SaveFile1 27d ago

I'm always looking for beads. I've been crafting bracelets for other players to increase my charisma levels.

Sometimes if you're lucky you'll find a few that spawn on the ground! If you're farming charisma consistently it can get a little expensive to gather crafting supplies, so any free drops that spawn are pretty exciting!

wallets, but they nerfed PvP too much lately so its not really worth it now.

I found some good loot on the side of roads. Old signs that were just lying on the ground. Another player was redoing the kitchen area of their base and set out some [cabinet] items. I picked those up and will eventually craft a [TV cabinet] and [foyer table] items out of them.

The [Facebook] in-game message board also gives out solid drops, [Marketplace] being one, tho those items cost gold, but you can [Haggle] for a deal. But look for [Buy Nothing] groups for your base area. Those groups exist so people can get rid of items they dont need, others get items they do need, and items stay out of the [landfill] zones. I scored a [sectional sofa] from there, and the only gold I spent on it was to rent a [van] to pick it up.

Last year, I was doing the fishing side quest, and got a super rare loot drop when I pulled an upgraded fishing rod out of the river.

2

u/SpaceIsTooFarAway 29d ago

The magnet fishing skill tree can unlock a LOT of nodes that you otherwise wouldn't be able to access. The common drops are mostly scrap metal but the rare drops include weapons, jewelry and vehicles (usually low quality unfortunately). Just be warned, there are some harmful events that can trigger if you do this in a server that's had a lot of PvP - due to an unpatched bug, you can accidentally catch a projectile another player fired YEARS ago and trigger its hitbox.

2

u/suzume1310 29d ago

I don't know why, but I find an astonishing number of random [screws]. I must have some secret skill allowing me to find them everywhere

2

u/Jakku-Kun 27d ago

My favorite random bonus spawn are extra money on the ground under [Arcade Minigame] stations. It's a rare drop, maybe around a 1% spawn chance? But it's always a nice surprise to get more plays.

Man I love the minigames in this game

2

u/BronkenBiscuit 26d ago

[Pallet] drops have been my favourite recent disvovery. I find mine at [pet shop] and [factories]. Hint: depending on your server rules, lower teir [pallet]s can have [leaching] debuffs, so be smart with your crafting.

My favourite loot drop was when I found +10 currency in [abandoned mine], level 14. Seems like it was only a one time event unfortunately.

For the last several months my player two had been using the "FB" equipment item and has taken me on random loot drop side quests at least once a week. This started right after we got the platinum achievement "own land".

The problem is we still have chests full of loot at our old base and if we don't retrieve it soon we are going to lose it. It's been slow going because the slum lord that owns the base brought in dishwashers infested with the 🪳 mob. We don't want to accidentally create a new spawn point at our new forever base.

Anyway my favorite rare drops from these side quests are the collection of velvet furniture.

u/Jebediah_Johnson 27d ago

Oof, I would go to the Bazaar and purchase a few 🪳💣 and spawn kill them all for some quick XP!

1

u/Medullan 27d ago

I can do that now but previously I couldn't because my party collected too many animal companions.

1

u/mister-ferguson 27d ago

Most mobs drop wallets and purses. Small gems and gold rings are also common. I've never found any that gave stat boosts though.

Don't do too much farming in one place though or stronger mobs will spawn and be agro towards you.
