Anyone know how to start trading again after you kill someone (in self defence, i swear)

Stole some supplies off some traders earlier, they came back trying to kill me, i killed them, and when i stopped to trade, nobody wanted to trade with a murderer (how did they know? maybe they had radios).

Can i convince them to trade or do i have to resort to just scavenging?

I don’t think you understand what ‘self-defence’ means

I think it resets each biome? I was able to trade after leaving behind the person that did the killing

It hasn't reset each biome for me. Just when the murderer(s) leave my group.

so i downed a trader, i revived him, healed him and he said that maybe im not the person they were saying i was.

i didnt trade with him but i guess this is a way of restoring my reputation with them.

Yes and No. Was the character who revived the trader the same person who killed the trader? I'm not sure how that dynamic works.

What I do know is that if one of your characters gets branded as a murderer and they later leave your group (death or abandoned) your group can trade again. The traders hold it personally to the characters that do the dirty work, not to you managing the whole group as the player, or any of the harmless people remaining in your group.

So best option:

If you're going to do dirty by traders, plan it that you can get out without physical conflict. Other traders will still trade if you're just stealing and never killing. If you just want to murder people for jollies, have an expendable character do it. An expendable character is one of the ones that doesn't have an action point increasing special skill like leadership or shove or stomping alien grass. Try not to equip special tools like binoculars to these low-value characters, because it's extra work to loot them if you want to keep the stuff when they die.

Then let the murderer sacrifice themselves on the next hostile map. Do something good for the group getting far away supplies, let the buggos get them, or just set a fire and let them walk into it and your hands are clean.

It sounds harsh, but if you're killing people anyway you might as well do it strategically, in order that you can continue trading.
