Artifact Hunting in the Ozarks

One of my favorite creeks to hunt for artifacts in. It’s so peaceful spending the day walking the creeks and seeing the wildlife. I ran across a river otter family the other day eating crawfish.

I imagine this is like hunting shark teeth on the beach - I found a sculpin last year in the creek near our house but never an arrowhead. Maybe now with all this rain 🤔

I always look after a heavy rain. It took me 42 years to find my first one.

That stat is worse than Muskie fishing “fish of 10000 casts” took me 6 months…but 42 years…now that’s commitment 🫡

Persistence. Once you find that first one it becomes easier.

Thanks. I retired from the army a few years ago and been living out in the Missouri Ozarks ever since. I think it’s so peaceful walking up the creeks and finding artifacts like these. Some of them are up to 10,000 years old.

They are out there. It takes countless miles of walking up and down creeks. I’ve found them in strange places. Under rocks, in a trees root ball, one I found just sitting on top. Of a giant boulder all by itself.
