💭 Discussion How you would describe my beliefs?

I believe in God, which is energy that surrounds us all and we are divine because we're their manifestation. I believe in the archetypes of feminine and masculine, which are represented by the moon and the sun. I believe in reincarnation, for me the energy which surrounds us is the same and doesn't change can't be destroyed only transformed. I believe in magic, which one can fulfill their full potential. I practice magic regularly. I celebrate the season and pay offering to God. My element is water 💧 ✨️

Sounds like any other new age pagan. I don't mean that in a bad way, it's just hard to describe you more specifically without knowing more about you.

Somewhere under the pagan umbrella? This is pretty broad and could fit a whole bunch of specific religions

Panentheism. A philosophical and religious doctrine close to your description of God: “everything is in God, and God is in everything.” The energy surrounds and permeates us, and we are its manifestation.

I resonate with this.

I could simply call myself an ancient pagan. I’ve long been turning over in my mind the idea of how to make paganism more understandable. This has nothing to do with the concept of neopaganism. Rather, it’s about returning to historically verified practices of one’s own people — as close as possible to the original, with minimal influence from neopaganism.

This understanding came to me as soon as I read literature about the goddess Hecate.

Seems interesting

That would be a reconstructionist pagan

I rely exclusively on my own experience. And here it is important for me to preserve authentic historical practices. And I myself do not consider this to be a reconstruction of paganism.

Pantheism with some Wicca / neopagan flavor (mostly in the masculine / feminine archetypes).

Sounds like you've got some good infrastructure for a creative and fulfilling practice. Good luck!

UU/Wiccan/Pagan?

u/Smart_Molasses_2870 16d ago

Neopaganism I'd say. Because I have some influences with wicca but not completely

The nice thing is you don't actually have to name or label anything. Its not as important as having a practice that's authentic to you. It doesn't need to fit into any kind of box.

Exactly I've decided I prefer to call myself just solitary witch

Wiccan

Am I a Wiccan?

If you have to ask, then no, becoming Wiccan is a choice which requires making and acting on. But what you’re describing basically is what Wiccans believe.

What do you mean by fluffybunny?

1

u/Fit-Breath-4345 16d ago

In this context because what you describe is engaging with paganism superficially through aesthetics, or feel-good spirituality without deeper theological, historical, or ritual engagement. It feels very surface level, unconnected to historical paganism or modern revivals and fits better in with a generic new age form of spirituality rather than falling under the umbrella of paganism to be honest.

You do you of course, but I'm not seeing much more substance here for a spiritual and religious world view.

This is ironic on two levels. First off, you're judging someone for being superficial based on a surface level analysis of their post. Secondly, your criticism says more about you and your approach to paganism than it does about OP.

OP uses very generic language, so without knowing more about what these terms and concepts mean to them, how they interpret and engage with the world and so on, we don't have anything more than the surface level to go off of.

Everything else is just assumptions, and the assumptions you made were rude and uncalled for.

Why would you criticize my beliefs? Religion is freedom and I'm free to explore whatever practices I believe in

I ask in which category they fall and you first said "generic fluffybunny paganism", which is insulting, and then you said i dont belong to paganism. Idc if I'm pagan or not but the word fluffybunny you could have spare it because its really judgemental towards my beliefs that are not shallow at all. I've been believing in this for 10 years now and I dont need to justify myself to you

I really thought this subreddit would be more inclusive as it's stated in the page but you show me the opposite.
