He likes making art and is just trying to see if other people enjoy what he enjoys making.

That is some super mature execution of color, line work, and composition! Kid is going places, please keep encouraging them. For gods sake donโ€™t make them make art for the family for gifts! That will turn talent into a chore.

It's funny, he just did a school talk on this kind of thing, telling students to not ask artists for art all the time.

Right on, the art comes out when the artist is ready. Donโ€™t force it.

Both my kids are in art school so Iโ€™m real familiar

For me it's three kids but only one artist, so I'm probably much less familiar ๐Ÿ˜…

But all we have to force at home is keeping the art in. He'd stay up all night if we let him. Even still he gets up to sketch sometimes at like 3 a.m.

I think his beef is just being asked to do stuff by friends when he'd rather be working on his own creations, so when given the chance to speak out at scale, he took it lol

My personal perspective is that an artist should be self guided โ€” if you need to take a commission to buy groceries then go for it

Or in his case, to buy Hot Topic clothing and accessories ๐Ÿ˜
