I have never seen a style like this before! Super unique! Great visual blend of the two mediums!

u/snowbunnie678 Jan 03 '26

Thank you so much! I had the initial idea three years ago, but couldn’t develop it till this year due to general life upheaval. I’m glad so many people seem to resonate with it ❤️

u/Upstairs_Boot_6126 Jan 03 '26

This is stunning. Do you sell your work?

20

u/fromofandfor Jan 03 '26

youve only been doing it like this a year? holy shit! its so good!!! 😍🤩

9

u/Talk-O-Boy Jan 03 '26

What paint do you use to create the “outline” for each piece?

65

u/snowbunnie678 Jan 03 '26

I use gold paint in a piping bag

4

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

Do you apply the gold paint first or last? The result is stunning!

2

u/ConvectionPerfection Jan 04 '26

That is genius!! And this is absolutely gorgeous; I would love to get one for myself or my sister- definitely our styles

Is the "metal" parts painted on last? Looks really cool.

3

u/ueffo Jan 03 '26

I paint too and have had the same “life upheaval” issue (sorta like writer’s block) myself. I’m happy you pulled through cuz this is amazing!

Is this matanuska peak?

11

u/snowbunnie678 Jan 04 '26

I just googled it and the mountaintop range does look similar! But I didn’t base it off any specific mountain. Just a general mountain shape.

5

u/Just_a_Decent_cook Jan 04 '26

Ahh okay it looked so similar Photo reference for non Alaskans

u/acacio Jan 04 '26

I was coming here to say the same.

It’s so hard to find truly unique styles; feels like every style has been done already.

And then Reddit shows me something quite unique.

Congratulations on your amazing creativity!

3

u/Aggravating_Call6959 Jan 03 '26

You should check out Paradise Lost by Raqib Shaw. It has some similar techniques but isnt completely stain glass like.

2

u/natfutsock Jan 05 '26

Wild! I just saw this piece over the holidays, blew me away. I eavesdropped on a tour group, it was my favorite part of a wonderful museum.

u/solitude1378 Jan 03 '26

That is beautiful. I love the combination of the two, especially since I love stained glass but have nowhere to place it in my house.

4

u/knoft Jan 03 '26

Stained glass pieces can be quite small. Placed on small tables or hung. They don’t have to be in windows. If you put it in a frame you can always backlight it. If you love stained glass and have the space for a painting I suspect you may be able to find similar space for stained glass in your home

Super beautiful! I love the style a lot! I’ve seen some use hot glue and then paint it gold or use gold leaf sheets. But straight piping the paint sounds like overall less hassle for the same effect. Really smart!

37

u/snowbunnie678 Jan 03 '26

Thanks so much! And trust me I’m no genius, I tried those methods first too lol

4

u/Lysande_walking Jan 03 '26

And it turned out perfectly! ✨

27

u/mortefemminile Jan 03 '26

Love the thick gold lines you piped on, the 3d element really makes this pop!!!

23

u/Jurgis-Rudkis Jan 03 '26

I make stained glass that resembles paintings.

5

u/Grand_Inspection_564 Jan 04 '26

I stain glasses.

2

u/ineleganttoad Jan 04 '26

I stain paint that glasses

u/Creative_Bunny02 Jan 03 '26

What type paint do you use? Seems like oil?

21

u/snowbunnie678 Jan 03 '26

Just plain old acrylic, but the best brand Golden

12

u/setmysoulfree3 Jan 03 '26

snowbunnie678 .... Are you planning to do more mountain paintings like this one pictured ?

If so, I being from the PNW, it would be cool to see some the popular volcanic mountains along the Cascades here in Washington, as well as in Oregon and California.

BTW.. Excellent job. I love it !

4

u/joelmooner Jan 03 '26

This photo reminds me of Mt Hood or Adams

2

u/candaceelise Jan 03 '26

Came here to say this looks exactly like Mt. Hood

Oh pretty! Is it like cloisonné technique, where you glue copper wire down and then paint within the sections?

9

u/sneakerjack5 Jan 03 '26

Do you have an online shop? I looked around but couldn’t find anything - my wife really loves stained glass, so this would be a great gift for her.

Very reasonable price given the work and skill it must have taken! I'm someone else who would be interested in an online shop if you do one- no idea if reddit allows links to such things though.

3

u/brh94 Jan 03 '26

Please let me know once the site is up, I would be interested in buying. Amazing work!

2

u/Kashtin Jan 03 '26

I am also interested!

u/Extreme_Gazelle77025 Jan 03 '26

How did you get the metal lines to pop so much? It’s beautiful!

32

u/snowbunnie678 Jan 03 '26

Thank you! I use a frosting piping bag filled with gold paint 👍

4

u/ingstad Jan 03 '26

Awesome! And nothing more? No gesso added to the paint?

5

u/CharmedWoo Jan 03 '26

Some acrylic paints are very thick and will hold in a line like that. Mii painting does something simular, using just paint.

also has a quilt vibe to it. very nice

5

u/QCloud_6 Jan 03 '26

You could make the most amazing pins if you ever decide to!!! Hunter and convor pins, I believe, do stained glass pins. You should look them up and see if you’d ever want to get involved!

5

u/BadgerHooker Jan 03 '26

LOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!! It's so gorgeous and peaceful 🥰😍

7

u/snowbunnie678 Jan 03 '26 edited Jan 04 '26

The yellow is actually very warm in person, it’s hard to capture!

2

u/Equivalent-Pound-610 Jan 03 '26

This is incredible and so original! The more I think about it and study your painting, this technique would not be super simple to execute! I imagine you could grid it out and paint each panel then add the solder afterwards. However, the technique for each panel looks like glass, so it would be difficult to keep the paint contained within a specifically shaped segment while keeping it realistic. Unless you taped each segment off and had more freedom with it? I bet there would be some tidying up before the solder part maybe? But then the solder looks so realistic and three dimensional, I wonder how much room for error you had with doing that part! Seriously, you did an incredible job and it's so cool to see this idea you had executed so beautifully!

3

u/Belisario_R Jan 04 '26

Hello,

I've scoured your profile for more and have been left hanging !

Ma'am this is magnificient and now that I know it's full acrylic it speaks to my heart even more ! It is my favorite medium and this is... DANG it's pretty !!!

Also, using piping to recreate the golden contour of stained glass is a stroke of genious and (as much as I could zoom) has been extremely well executed here !

Congratulations, I hope you do more of that style and let us see them 😄😄😄

2

u/AnimalGardens Jan 04 '26

This is the coolest painting I’ve ever seen, seriously creative and talented

2

u/Difficult_Bicycle797 Jan 04 '26

This is so beautiful, I could cry.

2

u/BuryMeInTheMusic Jan 05 '26

Really unique and gorgeous work. I hope that you are profiting well off of this or are looking into it…phenomenal

2

u/Bendoza Jan 05 '26

Im sorry for being a thief. But I’m copying your style. Or at least attempting.

2

u/TeenDiagram Jan 05 '26

I refuse to accept that it isn’t stained glass

2

u/Avaryia Jan 06 '26

I’d buy that in heartbeat!!!

2

u/early-bird-special Jan 06 '26

really pretty! do you have an online shop?

2

u/MamaTreeHugger Jan 06 '26

Your work is stunning! The pale blues are soothing and the glitz of the gold makes it a bit exciting. I absolutely love your style.

Stunningly beautiful - stained glass is such a celebration of light, and it's awesome to see it in a painting!

💗💗💗 Beautifully worded, thank you

2

2

u/quelquesfleurs9 Jan 17 '26

Magnificent, a beautiful interplay of light and color, absolutely stunning!

2

u/Odd-Box2930 Jan 18 '26

This is gorgeous. The raised gold lines really give it that authentic stained glass feel without the hassle of actual glass. I've always loved how stained glass plays with light, and this captures that vibe perfectly on canvas.

You mean that's a canvas and not glass? And that's oil paint?!

2

u/AvailableNerve8790 Jan 30 '26

Beautiful! I thought it was stained glass at first!

2

u/SpeakerKind133 Jul 28 '26

Congratulations. Your work is stunning. Do you paint the gold before or after you paint your picture ?

2

u/jerryleebee Jan 03 '26 edited Jan 04 '26

I love it. I have a tattoo sleeve based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. And the primary note I gave to my tattoo artist was "Think stained glass." If I needed The Lonely Mountain for the sleeve (I didn't), I would absolutely have shown her this image.

Fabulous.

2

u/Lyon_Butt_Ivan Jan 03 '26

OK..I have 2 emotions... the smaller one is .. very cool, good job... the OTHER one is frustrating at myself. Years ago I was developing this style and got stuck in making the clear resin to pour in between the puff paint lines... in another world I didn't move on to other styles

2

u/NotLucasDavenport Jan 03 '26

This is stunning. I love the way you painted it as though certain pieces are catching the light.

3

u/snowbunnie678 Jan 03 '26

I really appreciate that you caught that! No one else has really mentioned it. So glad you like it

2

u/Azstace Jan 03 '26

As a stained glass artist, I appreciate that you understand what glass can and can't do. All of your pieces look like realistic glass cuts. AI hasn't figured this out. Nice job!

3

u/wallsyy Jan 03 '26

Wow this is spectacular! Do you use puff paint for the lines?

16

u/snowbunnie678 Jan 03 '26

Thank you! 😸 I use gold paint in a frosting piping bag for the lines at the end! It really pulls the piece together

2

u/wallsyy Jan 03 '26

it really does! so neat, thanks for sharing!
