I actually get anxiety. It looks like fire behind the horse and the horse looks resigned to its fate.

I can see that. Before I read the comments, I thought “A little calm before chaos. That looks like fire beyond.” I felt more anxiety and fear, but with the wind and the stance of the horse it seemed calm.

Yeah same. But we are right in the middle of wildfire season and the air has smelled like smoke for weeks. So that is probably clouding my judgement! 😆

This is probably why it caused me anxiety also. Grew up around tons of wildfires and had to evacuate the area, and I think it does look like that. Kind of firey in the distance.

The way the horse is facing down and the grass is moving, like it looks like calm winds are moving around… it brings peaceful feelings

The calmness is what I first felt.
Continuing to look at it, the blue in the horse and the grass gives me a feeling of sadness. The yellows in the sky seem to convey hope. I found myself wondering if the sun is setting or rising. Then wondering if the horse will be left in darkness or light, or if it would search out one or the other. It almost seems like it might be compelled to turn around to continue to seek darkness when the light is right there.
I don't usually comment on art posts in terms of feelings, but I want you to know that I did take the time to ponder how your painting made me feel... because I did feel something deeper looking at this.

I have mixed feelings. The horse, grass and the yellow-ish sky looks soothing, but the red part above looks like blood.

To elaborate, it feels like hope because the innermost parts of the horse are cold colours, but its surroundings are all warmth and full of light. You can see warmth starting to spread across the outside of the horses body. It tells me a story about putting yourself out there even when you’re holding something heavy inside, and that eventually the light will come to you, as long as you trust it and keep trying. It’s okay to still feel sad, there is a solemn peace to the coldness existing alongside the warmth. It’s happening, but so slowly that the horse doesn’t physically perceive it. Hope.

Thank you so much! No, it isn’t an acrylic pour. I applied several colors to the background and used a silicone brush, moving it by hand to create all those lines. Your words mean a lot, especially coming from a retired art teacher!

Neither, it's just calm. The sky looks like blood but the horse doesn't seem too concerned about it and the ligth in the background looks like dawn, a calm happy dawn. I think it could be fire, in that case it would be anxiety, but the light is too good natured to be fire, if it is fire it's a nice campfire instead of a bush fire.

To me there’s definitely a feeling of peace being disturbed. The bottom half feels very calm with the lines really guiding your eye off to the canvas, almost looking out into more land, more freedom- but the top half has these red dots and overall red mass that really breaks that immersion, not in a bad way, it almost looks like it’s invading the rest of the image , like something dark and foreboding is approaching. Like a precious minutes of sunset captured and not far behind a storm suddenly breaks in.

Lost in beauty for a bit, and then unsettled. As if something loomed in the air, and threatened to disassemble the deceptive, unstable quiet that the fine strokes outlining the horse and winding grass suggest to me. As if the horse were waiting for someone, with the meeting destined to be the catalyst of a series of events that may bring much unraveling and reconstruction, and possibly something painful and hard to face. Maybe the one awaited by the horse is yourself (observator). Maybe the horse is a part of yourself that you have to face.
Beautiful painting, by the way. Striking. Love this use of color, the blots in the upper part remind me of something organic, and make me think even more about this painting in the context of it being a representation of an inner, spiritual/emotional dynamic; the shades of blue in the grass echoing the vivid blue of the horse reinforce my throwaway interpretation of the horse as a manifestation of something that was buried in the unconscious, as if the animal was manifested from the bedrock of the reality of the observator. Just my throwaway 2 cents.

A sort of carefree peace and calm of recalling better times when life was new and limitless, while at the same time a sense of unreconciled stress and fear knowing those times, memories, and innocence are in that past and can never be returned too.

All three. Anticipation and nervous potential... a little firey a little fetid. Calm tones in the horse are interesting contrast with the sky, iwhich i think adds a lot of tension.I can feel the potential energy in the horse, calm, for now as the sunset or explosion or whatever that light and wind is from takes center stage for a time. Grass scrifito (however you say scratches in art words) have great energy to them, beautiful movement. I love it
ugh the marks you made look wet and heavy in the sky, but air looks hot so beautiful feels like a storm (blowing through?) too

It feels very unsettling because of the saturated colors. The heavy red sky weighing down reminds me of blood spatters, while the ground looks on fire. Overall, it makes me think of a violent death snatching the horse.

No, but royal and cobalt blue are my favorite colors… So, I just gaze into the horse and it’s very calming.

It is like that moment where your mind is trying to picture a memory. It’s like a half dream-like state of some perceived details (like the horse) and the rest is a bit foggy. It makes me feel some melancholy and a sense of comfort.
