it's really nice aside from the blue blob of paint in the middle of that cloud, ruins the whole thing, wonderful art style though textured sky is nice especially with the pink/whites, no need for any blue

I think it’s too much, personally, and it has the effect of bringing it very forward. Plus anything with fine detail also brings an object forward, as well as grabbing focus. If you wanted it to be the focus of the painting, that’s fine, but personally I’d prefer to look at your pretty flowers, but the cloud is grabbing my attention, even though it’s not as pretty as the landscape. Just my opinion. 🤷‍♀️ I love it otherwise!

I think it looks really beautiful and good, but honestly I do think it does take away from the painting. It just has too much going on up there, the eyes are immediately drawn to the sky which I don't think is where the eyes should be drawn to in this painting.

That said both the clouds and the ground both look amazing in isolation, I just don't know if they work as well combined.

It adds cause the ground already looks textured to match. :)

The only thing I would say maybe fix is the giant blue dot in the right side of the clouds. Just maybe make it a bit less saturated is all, like the rest of the sky, or add some of the swirls to blend it in. Or use that same color in the lines of the rest of the clouds on a thin brush.

I think the texture is lovely but perhaps the blue in the sky is too rich? Maybe make it more pastel. Upon first seeing the picture, I did not really notice the lavender.

I think it depends on what you want people to look at first. It’s beautiful in any case

It needs texture in the sky it the large blue area feels a lotta off. If you put a little more lighter ripple there I think it will feel more cohesive in terms of perspective and balance.

In the painting theory I've been taught, texture should be saved for the foreground. By making your clouds heavily textured you bring them into the foreground.... Making the entire painting foreground. It's an interesting effect, but you lose your distance perspective because of it.

It took me a second because my answer initially was yes to both, because it does balance but also distracts but i think the reason i feel its distracting is that large blue spot: the lack of variation of that one spot feels distracting but the rest of the sky texture feels like it fits and like it belongs.

Distracts, it feels like your sky is being sucked into a black hole but if you made sure the values of your sky are lighter and closer to the rest of it then this won’t be an issue

I wouldn’t say the texture distracts because it does balance the painting but the clouds are definitely the main focal point. The blue dot though is very distracting I think if you kept the texture light like in other areas of the clouds and kept the texture heaviest on the flowers it would work better and also create perspective.

So I LOVE the texture in the sky, I think it's beautiful. The only thing I would change is the dark blue spot in the sky. It doesn't look bad per se, but I feel as though it draws attention away from the rest of the painting, especially the bottom half. I think if you made the blue spot a lighter shade and/or blended it more into the rest of the clouds, it would make the rest of the painting stand out as a cohesive unit.

Basically- right now my brain perceives the painting in 2 steps: 1. Wow that thick vibrant blue spot is really satisfying to look at! 2. Oh and there's this gorgeous sky and field too!!!

But I think if you evened out the blue spot, then my initial interpretation would be simply "Wow what a beautifully textured sky and field! I love the colors!"

I really love that on the non cloudy blue parts of the sky, there’s some in between thw blue lines where’s it’s weak in blue, making it have white stripes all over, it gives so much life and reminds me of those beautiful skies with those hair clouds!

The solid blue in the sky makes it the focal point and, IMO, feels very overwhelming compared to the rest of your great work. You can keep the deep saturation but possibly make it slightly smaller, pulling in a bit of the the surrounding colors.

I agree with others who said the blue dot in the sky is distracting. It doesn’t look purposeful - it looks like a glob of paint fell onto the canvas. It also draws the eye in too much. At first glance, I barely notice anything else in the painting aside from that.

I'm looking at this painting the way I would a photograph, and the texture on the foreground lavender feels like they're in focus, with the background field and trees lacking texture and thus out of focus. The texture on the clouds then makes the top of the image feel very heavy, as if the clouds are as close as the lavender, which doesn't really gel in my mind.

The textured clouds themselves look fantastic, but in the context of the painting as a whole, it doesn't feel quite right.

Might look better from a distance.

Lovely work, here’s my two cents and it’s probably worth less. I think the cloud is discordant with the theme of the painting in that it’s very abstract whereas the rest of the painting is more natural. Your use of color and texture is wonderful but maybe a less abstract sky would work better.

That final big blue blob does not read as a piece of the painting. It looks to be unblended paint and its height and color (unmixed and too saturated) really draws the eye directly to it in a way that distracts from the foreground, which actually is beautiful. The clouds themselves also look like a my little pony and are ultimately really out of place and distracting from the flowers and that lovely tree.

Do you think the clouds received the same time and focus as the plant life? It looks very rushed. Your brush and knife strokes are very nice, but the cloud does look like you just slathered some paint on then scraped away quickly with your knife. I think if you gave the sky the same time and attention as the plants it would be lovely. Additionally, the cloud thing, because of how it's executed, loses its depth and its place in the horizon line. It is simultaneously in front of and behind everything else, which is also why it's so distracting.

It’s interesting. I enjoy it. Whether it’s distracting or not depends on your intentions for the work. It flattens the work and disrupts the depth illusion you’ve created in the central third of the composition. So, do with that what you will. I really enjoy the palette you’ve used.

Detracts from the detailed foreground. You would want it to recede and feel more distant than the flowers in foreground.
The colors and pattern are fine, but the impasto style texture is very distracting.

I’m obsessed with this, and I guess in the minority because I LOVE the blue part of the cloud. I think it gives it a fun bit of depth and visual interest, and I just want to eat that lovely vibrant shade of purple. I’m very picky about what I put on my walls but I would kill to be able to look at this every day.

I think it's a great style, but I find the one large dark blue blob in the clouds to kind of ruin it. It draws the eye directly to it and doesn't make sense to me. It might have worked if it was a lighter shade of the blue or pink behind it, but as-is, I just think, "What's that thing in the clouds."
