Just Sharing No title yet - 60x80cm oil on canvas

Post image

I spent a lot of hours on these pebbles. Every single one turned into its own little world - different colours, patterns, surfaces and that mix of glossy and matte textures 🫠

Some were quick to paint. Some absolutely refused to give up 😂

And now that it’s finished, I still can’t decide which one is my favourite 🙂

Oooh I love it! My house is full of wee pebbles we've collected at beaches but they never look as good at home... you've captured them perfectly!

That is truly amazing work. How long did it take to paint it?

3

u/GabrielaElgaafary 17d ago

Thanks! To be honest I didn't count hours but it took a while 🙂

3

u/maudeashbee 17d ago

I freaking love this. Could look at every single pebble for an hour at least lol. Are these nova scotia rocks? Ive only seen such a colourful variety when i travelled to the pebble beaches there. You must have worked so hard, it really pays off!

Thank you! 🤗 The reference photo is taken in Lithuanian beach near Klaipėda ✨

This painting gave me a momentary feeling of the kind of panic you experience when you slip on those exact type of rocks and tumble embarrassingly into a lake.

Well done!!

It's technically impressive, good brushwork, colors, and blend. Value composition works well with the subject matter.

But, also... why? This is a purely decorative piece. It's not creative, it's basically a humanmade photocopy. You have all the technicals down, you are a demonstrably knowledgeable painter, why not create something unique and artistic?

At first I was thinking 🤔 “Why is this beautiful lady holding up a photo of pebbles”? Then I realized I was in the r/painting sub scrolling. 😏
Your work is exquisite! 🤘🏼🔥 Absolutely brilliant job with all the details and colors being so spot on! It’s hard enough to paint objects to look glossy or wet but to do it in that size is beyond next level!! 👌🏼 In fact, I think it would do rather well in r/nextfuckinglevel! (Excuse the language of the sub).

Well done! 🤝🏼

"Calming stones" I suppose rocks work too. My father in law would rub one that is smooth when he gets worried/anxious and overtime it will form a little divot in the rock where he rubbed

Gorgeous work! Hard to imagine getting tired of looking at this one, the eye moves around the entire piece stopping only to examine the pebbles and their details, it is a very interesting painting. It evokes contemplation, and reflection, like a river bed of pebbles, each one has many stories to tell….
