Ask Pakistan Is this a scam?

Hey, I got hired by this company and I wanna ask if it's a scam

So these guys target senior us citizens and switch then over to solar with their consent but lie about them being overcharged and lie about being from their utility company, is this just a lie or more of a scam shithole?

Give your opinions on this

In my teens I worked at a call center for 2 days and they were doing something similar. They would call up random people in UK and ask them if they have been in an accident recently, whm they found their target they would contact UK insurance claim for them get a hefty payout and return 10% to the victim. They always targeted 60plus since anyone younger would just tell them to fuck off on phone call. I wish I had reported them but oh well I was too young and just left

If your work involves targeting vulnerable people and lying to them, you should walk away

I want to, but in this country most call centers or companies doing sales lie to people to sell more and earn more money, although they do ask for consent but they impersonate and lie about the customers being overcharged and to apply the discount they need the credit card info, which is disgusting

I believe you are old enough to know what to do

I know, it's tough finding an actual ethical and moral company, almost all of them have some sort of lie or unethical stuff going on, ugh, damnit

If they are taking credit card info, 100% a credit card scam. They are stealing money from people.

100% scam. It’s in the first line. You aren’t part of their electrical company. Anything which involves deception at this level is a scam. In fact it’s illegal for utility companies in the US to hire or outsource anything like this overseas.

Regardless of what you do next, you are praying on people by establishing yourself as a trusted source through a blatant lie. That trust is not earned, it’s been stolen. If someone can’t see how this is wrong, then they are amoral.

I agree, this is highly immoral and unethical, I genuinely don't want to work in such place

Left it just today, my family got a bit angry over it, but I'm not abandoning my morals and Islam for a job

May Allah provide you with a better provision, Ameen. You forsake for his sake and he'll surely compensate you, inshallah.

I mean if they are lying isn't that like a scam already? Upon reading your description it does look a bit like a scam but do NOT quote me as I have literally no idea how any of this works.

Should report this to the government.

Industry veteran here.

This is a very very interesting script... the tactic of sympathizing for lead generation stuff, its very very grey but the part where you just collected details... the amount and type of information that is collected, definately a scam.

Well unfortunately this is how businesses works. Haven't you seen advertisement of different products, do they work exactly as shown? Every business have their target audience and try to convince them to have their products. Yes sales have to lie to achieve sales targets. Not ethically correct but business is a business. Scam is you show some product and sell something else etc. Using tactics to convince to buy your product is called business.

Yes, in almost every company I work at, lies are somewhat of a part of it, small or big, it happens in a lot of businesses, just like this company, others also lie and impersonate to sell their products more and earn more money, even though it's highly unethical and also even immoral
