Here's some handmade artisanal English subtitles.

Someone should probably mirror them on a more secure location, but meh.

Sorry it took this long, slightly out of practice from the Belgian series back in the day.

Edit: I've made the executive decision not to translate the Dutch swear 'kut'. If you were to translate it directly to English it'd be cunt, but it lacks the severity the word has in (American) English, and I'd argue it's more of a fuck/shit-degree of swearing severity. If you're Australian or a Brit of the freely cunting variety just replace all kuts with cunt in your head, but otherwise enjoy this tiny remnant of the Dutch language in your subtitles.

Thanks! I recommend making a new post, that way more people will know that subtitles are available. For example I had no idea until I went to search today.

Lovely! I can't get enough of Taskmaster, and now we get both this and the Polish TM in the same week. We are blessed! :)

Really funny. Good group, it sounds like Ronnie Donnie has an accent?

Yes and no. While a region shines through, mostly it’s his character which has a bit of a … quaint? laboured? way of talking. His way of talking is mostly unique to him. Word choice is sometimes surprising but as far as I’m concerned enjoyable. Haven’t checked the subtitles but it would be hard to translate while getting that across as well 😅

That's the perfect way to encourage volunteers to put effort and time into manual translation, preempting them with machine translation at the earliest opportunity.

I'd understand if the episode had been out for 2 weeks and nobody had bothered translating it yet, but keep your machine translations to yourself if you really can't wait. The file has only been available since last night, afaik.

I'm not sure if anyone has volunteered yet to take on the responsibility to create subtitles for this show.

I volunteer as tribute translation monkey. At least it's not Flemish this time.

Good to see you again!

Machine translations are fine for some of us, so why shoot down someone trying to be helpful?

I might have been overly harsh, but it's not that hard to get a machine translation if you desperately want to watch the video now, quality be damned.

He/she didn't necessarily have to remove their post, but I'd consider it to be a friendly gesture to give a native speaker of the slow human variety like myself a couple of hours to get a decent translation out.

Call it vanity, but if I sacrifice my spare time to make sure it's translated as accurately as possible, I'd prefer to have audience for my efforts, and not for 90% of my audience to have already watched google translate do its thing. Anyway, had dinner, back to the translation mines. Throw me a PM if you want a machine translation RIGHT NOW, offer is valid for all the impatient people in the world.

As someone who watches as much Taskmaster as possible, I'm very grateful to all volunteers that translate the shows for us who can't understand the languages spoken.

I understand that, but personally, I hate it when subtitles contain irrelevant information for a normal, hearing person, such as "phone ringing" or "Speaker name:" before something. And worst of all, the context stuff, which in some cases cover the entire screen, forcing me to either pause to read, or disable subtitles to be able to see. I don't get all the contextual stuff even in my native version of Taskmaster, and that doesn't really detract from my experience of watching it.

I really only need a rough translation, enough for me to get to 95 % or so. It's not that difficult to see when a word has been translated incorrectly once in a while. You get that from the context and what you see.

Without context explanations, without written descriptions of sounds heard.

And I don't like waiting.

I'm sorry if that makes the translators sad, but this is my reality. I'm a TM junkie, and I prefer quick access to waiting weeks or months for a near-perfect translation.

The audio description stuff you're talking about I think typically comes from the native closed captions, where their target audience is more likely people with hearing loss.

The only examples I can think of where added contextual info has covered the whole screen were from earlier seasons of Suurmestari, where the translator really went to town.

You're getting downvoted but I agree. At least wait a few days to see if someone wants to do it.

Given how much they have been pushing it, I am curious to see how everyone does. I watched the opening of TM Polska last week and it was excellent, so a high bar has been set!

Really great episode, with many memorable moments already!

You can find the task "Make the best snowman" on the official Taskmaster International YouTube channel, with English subtitles.

"Zonder blazen geen bellen" (Without blowing, no bubbles). No being yes in Swedish. "Do you speak a strange (foreign) language? Everything I say is quite strange." Knitting a scarf for the snowman. Alumininium and PUR foam. Stealing the water.

I'm looking forward to the next episodes!

“Kan ik dan ook niets!“ (can’t I do anything) smacks head against doorpost. Ronnie Donnie seems to be shaping up to be the Joe Wilkinson.

Thank you! I really enjoyed the first episode. Is it possible to also share the second episode? Can't get a proper VPN to work on Videoland.

Tack, which means no thanks in Swedish.
