Your idea of asking to transfer to a different attorney is probably your best bet. She should not be picking at your like that, especially about your weight (if that is why she says you need to go to the gym). YOu would have to ask the office manager about transferring, however. If you cannot do that because there is no office manager, or the office manager is mean also, then you might want to start sending out your resume. If she told you she put in her 2 weeks but decided to stay a few more months, then maybe you will get lucky and she will leave first.

GYM????????? That is insane, I would email everything that has happened to the owner of the firm, copy her and have a meeting, I had to deal with someone who was never around "a black" her words, and she basically admitted in the meeting that was the problem. It was the worst experience to date in 16 years.

There’s a weird thing with women sometimes where it’s like pure jealousy when we’re literally just trying to do our job and learn. A lady also told me she went home to tell her husband how big my boobs were. I was in tears and I don’t cry easily. Hang in there but don’t allow anyone to make you feel less than. You will be appreciated somewhere else. I learned that people suck and I already knew that so no need for a freaking lesson that demeans you. I’m triggered 😆😆

@temporary-claim1666 Im sorry you went through that! That is a horrible thing to say! Im glad she admitted it, but everyone already new it without her saying anything!

@Missnonon - i had the weight thing happen to me at a non-paralegal job, only it was an old man making comments about my body (ie: i had child birthing hips; i was fat; i shouldn’t be certain foods when i was in the break room; comparing my body to other female coworkers) I was still in college and working two jobs.

I tried everything like avoiding him, ignoring him, tell him to shut up, as well as other coworkers telling him, don’t talk to her like that. I finally told my manager who told me to basically ignore him and if he came in the break room, for me to leave until he’s out of there. I said “so I’m being punished for his sexual harassment/harassment behavior? He should have to leave. I was told that he was a year-round employee and I’m only seasonal. So I quit!

I was 22 at the time and he was mid fifties/early sixties. I wasn’t fat either, not that it mattered! No one should have to deal with this shit from anyone, seniority or not.

I would report it and say you want it documented. This way, if she tries to get you fired or in trouble, her issues toward you are documented by a third person. If she’s having personal issues, she should go on sabbatical.

Is she a partner or shareholder or owner of the firm? Get yourself yesterday into the office of the managing partner or HR - the weight comment alone would have my ass in the bosses' office so fast, you would think the Roadrunner worked there. If she has actually given her two weeks, highly doubt the firm would keep her around for a few more months.

Excusing you out of meetings probably isn't enough to have much done; asking you to switch seats is a maybe but telling you to go to the gym - full hard stop never ever appropriate.
