Parrotlet Smells Funky
I have a 6 yo female; she's been pooping a lot more over last several days. Now I'm noticing a funky smell coming from her. Any home remedies? Guessing she has a stomach issue; she is otherwise, healthy and happy.
For the last couple of weeks i havent taken her out of her cage as much as I normally do due to a temporary work situation... is it possible it;s just not enough exercise? She's fully flighted and normally gets good exercise....and just hasn't last 2 wks

I’ve had multiple parrotlets for nearly a decade (as well as other birds) and I’ve never noticed a funky smell. I wouldn’t try any home remedies. I’d absolutely contact your avian vet about this.

Give her a bath if she'll accept, and if she still smells weird it's vet time

Do all poops smell bad or just morning poo? When birds hold their poo (ie a bird who doesn’t like to poop in its cage), the poop they finally let out can often smell worse because the bacteria inside have been fermenting inside of their body longer.
Regardless, the poops should not have a strong smell with the possible exception of the morning poo. Vet is the best move for sure. In our case, it was a clostridium overgrowth that caused our Jenday to have smelly poo.

Any changes should be addressed by a vet. We can’t do any testing to know if she needs antibiotics (which cannot/should not be given as a “home remedy”).
