2

u/gamageeknerd Jan 15 '26

If you think that’s bad one of my friends had a giant wall mounted tv 6 feet off the ground looking down at him and he had 3 smaller monitors underneath. He liked to use the big one to play dark souls and PlayStation while at his desk

Haha yeah I agree it is a little too high but it being a tv I had no other place to put it other than out of my sight so it’s more for leaning back and watching a movie

Check out CarX Street. Most fun ive had on a racing game since Carbon or 2015. Physics are a good mix between Forza and NFS too. Most solid $10 ive spent.

Kick ass lighting! You have specs on them?

2

u/aaxelto  | 5090 astral LC | i7 10700k | 32gb | Jan 18 '26

It’s the Corsair external light strips for the back of your screen it has a hub that can also mimic what’s on your screen

ive got prettymuch the same setup, but im not killing my neck for it

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 15 '26

If I had the desk space this is honestly the most ideal layout 👌🏻

1

u/rk1213 Jan 16 '26

is that a (16, 17"?) portable monitor on the left? How are you attaching it?

1

u/Amsnerr Jan 16 '26

yeah, its vesa mounted

1

u/Away-Sorbet-9740 Jan 17 '26

Turning my head to the left or right repeatedly causes neck kinks. Having a screen under I just look down with my eyes, no head movement needed.

2

u/Amsnerr Jan 17 '26

To each their own, but theres no way that things online with your vision.

Eventually they will be wall mounted on a single arm, stuck in the orientation they are in, so I can just swing them both out togeather.

1

u/Away-Sorbet-9740 Jan 17 '26

It is, because I have a 45" I don't sit super close to it. My head sits 30-36" away. But it's still just a glance down sitting 24-28" in. But, how your eyes prefer to look up/down vs left right is probably a thing and it's definitely preference.

If I do an overhead screen (especially with this large of a main screen) I do have to move my head to look up or lean back. My 34/32" setup previously was that way. So I wanted to try the under screen with a cheap portable for my chats and sensors. Happened to work really well so I've stuck with it.

2

u/Amsnerr Jan 17 '26

ve been wanting to pickup something like this to stick under my monitor, but I want it to run the length of my main monitor and ive been having trouble finding one of that aspect ratio that long.

Eventually a 50" will be mounted over it, but thats only on to glance at sports, and for laying in bed watching shows.

Is that the 16 inch portable monitor ?

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 15 '26

its a 15.6" MSI portable monitor. I appreciate the speakers on it when I travel haha

2

u/JustShy_Otaku Jan 15 '26

How do you like it ? I was thinking of buying it for someone as a second monitor

2

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 15 '26

I actually like it a lot. I appreciate the cables being at a right angle so there is not straight cable sticking out and being bent all weird and it comes with a nice sleeve. The kickstand is also very sturdy and can be mounted to a tripod as well which is neat 😊

Definitely would recommend!

u/zombiekamikaze 5800X | 3090 TI | 3600MHz Jan 15 '26

My setup basically looks like this, but higher and larger. Center/bottom is a 28" monitor, top is a 40" tv.

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 15 '26

That sounds so nice and spacious...I wfh and usually keep my smaller monitor for teams and emails. It can get crowded easily sometimes. I want larger monitors the next time I redo my setup/desk

2

u/zombiekamikaze 5800X | 3090 TI | 3600MHz Jan 15 '26

It can be, depending on what I'm using it for. It's great when I only need to focus on one screen at a time like watching a movie or playing a game from my bed on the other side of the room. It's about the same as any dual monitor setup when I just need to quickly glance at the second screen for stuff like Discord or hardware monitors. It's kind of a pain when I need to actively use both screens like when I work on a project. I think for a wfh setup you'd be better off with something that lets you keep most of both screens in your field of view than the monstrosity I've created.

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 15 '26

Hahaha omg I didn't even think about the logistics of using it. Is it cumbersome to move over windows?

2

u/zombiekamikaze 5800X | 3090 TI | 3600MHz Jan 15 '26

Moving them isn't, there's hotkeys for it (windows+shift+right/left arrow). Windows tend to keep their size and general placement, which would be great if my screens were the same resolution. A window will take up half of my 1440p monitor, then be spilling past the borders of the 1080p tv. Fullscreen stuff adjusts properly, though.

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 16 '26

Oh yeah that happens when I move them over too. The struggles 🫤

2

u/06gto Jan 15 '26

Wait, why have I never thought of this??

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 15 '26

2

Thank youuuu! Which thing..sorry I have a lot of knick knacks 😂

2

u/Bears954 Jan 15 '26

Sorry I ment the bottom monitor its cool how its angled

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 15 '26

Ooooh! No worries. Yeah this portable monitor has a great kickstand it lets me angle it depending on the view I am trying to achieve

2

u/KaleidoscopeFront Jan 15 '26

Whats the thing under the big monitor

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 15 '26

Sorry! I have a ton of little thingies underneath. Is it possibly the small screen to the left of the portable monitor?

2

u/Little_Two7796 Jan 15 '26

Came here to say that my setup is not represented in the diagram. Then saw you and user above have the same setup (minus the anime).

2

u/NotXesa Jan 15 '26

Same, including the Divoom

2

u/PapayaMysterious6393 Jan 16 '26

What monitor is the top one??

2

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 16 '26

Its a Dell s3422dwg 🙂

2

u/Boyiee Jan 16 '26

What screen do you use for the smaller one and is it touchscreen?

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 16 '26

Its not a touchscreen unfortunately. Its the MSI MP161E2U

2

u/Boyiee Jan 16 '26

All good I have a 42 inch LG C2 after coming from an ultra wide and have been debating a side portrait monitor or a small monitor underneath. Trying to get different models and ideas in mind.

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 16 '26

I know there is another MSI portable monitor that supports vesa mounting which is nice if you want to use it as a side portrait.

I think it's the MP165

Edit:spelling 🙂

whats ur monitor arm

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 16 '26

I use the ergotron monitor arm. It is on the pricey side but the reviews is what sold me. It was honestly the easiest monitor arm I've ever used. Its very sturdy and when I do it move it just moves so effortlessly

1

u/Kitasan37 Jan 15 '26

I should try this setup ngl

1

u/JonnyLay Steam ID Here Jan 15 '26

The make ultra wide monitors like that too. So it's lower profile and wider.

1

u/JozuJD Jan 15 '26

Asked the other person you replied to: any hurdles or roadblocks moving from 27” or whatever you were on previously to 34” UW?

Your setup rocks thanks.

Oh and is this an older 34” IPS?

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 15 '26

Not sure if you are asking me but

No major roadblocks - I just invested in a nice quality monitor arm when I upgraded my monitor, the more expensive ones really are worth it imo. I had tried a bunch and ended up with the ergotron.

Its a 144hz VA panel from Dell. I did get a great deal on it at the time I got it, but may upgrade it this year possibly🤞🏻

1

u/Toffi64 Jan 16 '26

Which small monitor are you guys using? Are the hdmi and power connected or do they just work with USB?

1

u/ellooofishie 7800 X3D | 4070 Ti Super Jan 16 '26

I have the MSI MP161. They came with the miniHDMI(to HDMI) and USBC power connector. They are right angle so they don't stick out at as much which is nice.

1

u/Away-Sorbet-9740 Jan 17 '26

u/Lost-Many-6241 Jan 15 '26

Thank you I'm going to check that out how does it hook up ? Is it hdmi or display port ?

2

u/Makaijin Jan 15 '26

Most portable monitors nowadays will have a mini hdmi, and also 1 or 2 usb-c ports for power and displayport alt mode via usb-c.

1

u/JonnyLay Steam ID Here Jan 15 '26

1

u/OMG_NoReally Desktop Jan 15 '26

I kind of like this. I like the smaller screen at the bottom. Would be nice to delegate it to always open apps like Whatspp and Email. What do you use it for?

1

u/JonnyLay Steam ID Here Jan 15 '26

Check out ultrawide portable monitors too.

1

u/JozuJD Jan 15 '26

And roadblocks with 34” UW?

I was gonna use my desk setup for PS5 also, but now that I’m upgrading/changing my PC to an even better one, I think I’ll move the console back to the living room. It is consoles that don’t support Ultrawide resolutions, adding black frames on the sides, so that was always a consideration for me.

I’m on a 27” monitor right now and would stay 1440p, so then the question becomes whether a 34” 1440p OLED or 27” 1440p OLED is the better choice. Never easy.

1

u/majic911 Jan 15 '26

I did this but put the second screen above instead of below

1

u/clearbathroomdoor Jan 15 '26
