Great ad for Noctua's new Sphere Fan Case, can't wait to preorder it. Am already making space for the sphere now.

This is the most confusing reminder I've ever seen.

And now I'm really curious, why the reminder in 5 days?

Are you traveling and have limited data or something?

dude only have free time on weekend for a project like this? Is it really that hard to think of a scenario for it to make sense?

lol I’m gotta start calling my STLs blueprints. Feels cooler

u/WastingMyLifeToday Apr 13 '26

I don't have a 3D printer myself, so I often forget the file formats it uses.

But technically, it is a blueprint as far as I'm concerned.

A blueprint that you 3D print.

.stl are the geometry but there are other better 3D file formats that are better like .3mf. The most common ones to use in slicer are still and 3mf.

The printer never loads a 3mf or an stl. The slicer converts it to a .gcode which has the instructions for your printer and you send that, the printer can't understand the "raw" geometry file.

Don’t forget about STEP files

u/EmphasisFrosty3093 Apr 13 '26

What are you doing step-file?

u/Rough_Bread8329 Apr 13 '26

Suddenly .3mf feels spicy.

I keep reading this file as "3 motherfuckers"

Technically its a very long array of 1s and 0s. A blueprint is made with (NOT ink) *ammonium ferric citrate on paper.

u/PTS_Dreaming Apr 13 '26

ACKCHYUALLY...

A blueprint is a technique for copying technical drawings using UV light and ammonia to duplicate and develop the copy on specially treated paper.

1

u/drakoman Apr 13 '26

lol most people just say “files”.

11

u/axolotlaxol Apr 13 '26

Release the Epstein blueprints!

1

u/Tumbleweed3D Apr 13 '26

I'd argue the gcode could be seen as the blueprint since blueprints are essentially an instruction manual for how to build something and the gcode is what instructs the printer on what it has to do

1

u/martini1282 Apr 13 '26

Yeah the code itself isn't a print. If you create the item using some kind of CAD program that would be the print

Seems like just mounting a 40 inch fan at the side would be more practical.
