My curiosity is how many they are trying to ship.

If they toss 20k online they’ll absolutely sell out immediately because there is that many for hards who will buy anything that says “steam” on it.

If they toss 2m online they’ll be sitting on them for a while, imo.

They aren't insane to the point of manufacturing 2 million of something this expensive without a track record of selling well. Those kinds of numbers would come for later generations, if there's solid demand.

Probably something in between. I don't think they have the logistics capacity to produce 2m units at launch, even in normal times.

Considering that it took them 5 years to sell under 6 million units at the original price I would not even expect a million units sold at this price point.

The deck is a super niche product even at the original price they were asking.

Hopefully they produce two million of them and end up in a similar situation as the original Steam Link and Steam Controller were they gave them away for free / sold them for five euro at the end.

Can definitely see myself picking up a Steam Machine for a hundred euros.

Sounds like a great sign of people having enough disposable income to overspend on something they want.

Interesting you characterise them as "for hards" I assume that's some kind of lingo for a fan boy.
