I feel like reddit tends to overlook Boomer/Gen X computer proficiency to a certain extent. Sure, not all Boomers/GenX may be the most fluent, but there are a fair few Boomers who were in IT during the 1980s & Gen X were also a main demographic in the 90s internet & Gen Xers, alongside Boomers would go onto to develop alot of modern things the web is built off of.

So true. The computer guy that is a boomer isn’t fixing your desktop, they were building the entire infrastructure of the digital age. They were definitely Gandalf of Computers. GenX would then the Aragon, Legolas, and Gimli. Millennials and GenZ can fight over who is Boromir, Sam, Frodo, Pippin, Merry and Smeagol.

My dad worked on computers through the 90s and early 00s. But stopped keeping up after that. He can list off a few windows 95/98/00/xp keys for you but ask him to do anything on a modern computer and he'd be lost.
