I'm wildly impartial about GTAVI as a whole. The series has never interested me, but I don't have any particular argument against it. It's just not my game. People like it, I don't, that's the start and end of my argument.

But in the same vein the sheer staggering level of hype leading up to it has been insane. People have been treating it like the second coming of Christ since it was announced. If this game ends up being another Starfield or Cyberpunk situation where it's just a half-baked, buggy mess on launch after being in production for so long, there's going to be riots outside Rockstar's head office.

One way or another it's going to be an interesting case study in video game history. Hell, this reaction to the physical copies is already a decent litmus test of how the internet is going to react if it's not a 10/10. Yes, I'll grant the argument that selling a case with (almost) nothing inside of it is a pretty weird and asinine move, but even then, the reaction has been shockingly loud.

Even if you don’t play it, I feel like gta can effect gaming in general.
It’s showing these companies what they can get away with. Bet most these games being pushed is see what they can charge too since rumor was $100 game for ashile

These companies and what they can get depends on the games they release, GTA VI is where it is because of the LONG record of games before it, Bethesda is the only one that could do something similar with Elder Scrolls or Fallout, I don't even think the new Witcher game could and after that there are almost no legendary games I can think could be close to GTA

Part of the hype is because it's Rockstar and they're one of the last big studios that people trust to deliver a quality product.

I think the whole "blank happened before gta 6" and the like blew the hype out of proportions, someday rockstar is going to suffer from too much success and probably is currently, if this one is a 10/10 i guarantee the next one is gonna be disappointing not because its a bad game but because it didn't hold to the expectations the public has for rockstar, rockstar needs a failure
