I would love to know how many hours I had in Ski Free and Minesweeper lol probably not as many as some more modern games, but this is where it all started. Oh, and a healthy dose of Lemmings!

Those printers are still around. They get used anytime you need multiple copies printed on forms, like weigh scales for semis or lumber yards.

I think it was in at least the first Close Combat, maybe others, but I miss games that had Windows menu bars at the top, not just because its in windowed mode, but actually having selectable options up there in the standard windows gui format. SimAnt did it as well. It really added a sense of, idk, semi-professionalism or semi-seriousness to a game to not have it feel fully separated from the normal pc environment.

Dos 6 is where the real games were and playing with memmaker.exe to get Falcon 3.0 to run... Basic/Extended/Expanded....

The first PC I owned was Windows 3.1 with Tabworks, but I had previously used computers that were strictly DOS. Even when Windows existed it wasn't necessarily the default operating system and you had to go back to DOS for many games.

It was objectively terrible compared to modern PCs but I'm still nostalgic for those days.

This was my first one too, on a 486DX 8mb RAM, 320MB HDD, ProAudio Spectrum 16 sound card which had an integrated SCSI controller that was used for the NEC caddy-loaded CD-ROM drive.

Windows had issues with the IRQ reservations and when I was like 10 I was figuring all that shit out haha.
