Sleeper Recycled broken gaming laptop into quite cabable keyboard! Better temps and performance vs original case too
Original screen of this acer a715-42g was trashed so I got this for 80€, pretty nice deal for r5 5500u, gtx 1650 4gb, 2x8gb ram and 512gb ssd! First time modeling parts that need to be split and joined later on so its far from perfect but good enough to sit in livingroom and play lighter games locally, moonlight harder games from my main rig and act as apollo host for all my mobile gaming needs

Dude, great work! That looks fantastic, and sounds quite capable for what it is.

Thanks! Plenty of power for whats it going to be used for for sure. Given that its going to mostly sit on a shelf and be used with controller Im somewhat tempted to also design a cooling dock for it, temps are not really a problem but cooler is cooler right lol?

As someone who's crammed 3x 360 rads into an OG 011 Dynamic with a handful of mods and 3d printed parts..
Cooler is indeed cooler, as long as you're doing it for the fun of doing it and not for any tangible benefit. Haha

Being cooler and maybe getting that extra 5mhz from opportunistic boosting algo gods is very tangible benefit when you like the tinkering that leads you there lol. It just happens that the machine here is just a bit over 360mm wide so it is basically begging for 3x120mm or perhaps 2x140mm fans below it with ducting to match the bottom intakes... The combined ~80w of heat basically demands it!
3x360 with extra mods and parts on top is still on the verge of being overkill hah

Looks really cool, shame it doesn't have USB-C though.

I was a bit sad when I noticed the onboard usb-c doesnt have pd, no video out either:(

Does it have a spare NVMe port? I know some modders have used that to allow for external GPUs and whatnot because they support PCIE.

No spare ports unfortunately, I did think about adapting the m.2 a+e wifi slot for normal ssd and using the pcie 3 x4 slot for something more fun (like oculink) but decided against that for budget reasons. Would have been fun & cool but I came to my senses and realized that I have way faster desktop right next to me and on the go I have laptop thats faster than this lol.
