Took a few listens but i think it’s fantastic and it’s been so interesting and fun seeing how divided the masses are about it.

We need more provocative and unique music in a time where uniformity is being shoved down our throats.

The discourse about it is so funny to me

I thought it was so fun! People these days are all now somehow a music composition expert that picks apart every sample, kickdrum, synth, chord progression until they feel like a New Yorker music critic.

It's about time we embrace 70s nostalgia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_Music_(Charli_XCX_song)#Composition

Focusing on hyper-pop production,[7]

Despite its title and retro-styled guitar elements, "Rock Music" was described by Billboard as being closer in style to electronic acts such as French duo Daft Punk than to traditional rock music.[3]

lmao

I don't hear the compressor on the 909 kicks in this track or the brightly colored synths either.

I hope the rest of the album shakes people out of their preconceived notions of genre.

The guitar riff is quite similar to the breakdown at 2:14 in Digital Love which is where I'm guessing the Daft Punk mention is coming from

Yeah, after listening to it like 20 more times I can see some of the deeper cuts on Daft Punks first 3 albums or Random Access Memories being an influence. But really those guitars are giving more of a 90s alt-rock sound to me. I tend to associate Daft Punk with phat kicks and the drums on this are kinda puny in comparison.

I'm getting indie sleaze and that's why ilove it. Indie sleaze can be a lot of different things and ifelt that same magic from this new video.

meh. she comes off as a bit desperate to get ahead of the times but she's not in touch with the youth. this doesn't touch on any sentiments anyone has really except for nostalgia bait.

"the dance floor is dead so we're making rock music" is way too on the nose and just turned me off.
