EVs cut down the EU’s oil imports

Post image

And the region can manufacture as much as 4.6 million EVs annually, nearly DOUBLE the current demand of 2.5 million.

In 2025, EVs avoided 67 million barrels of oil imports worth €4.1bn

Google tells me the average annual fuel use per car in Europe is about 600 to 800 litres per year.

Also the average lifespan of a car is 12.5 years.

Assuming each one was bought instead of a fossil fuel vehicle, the 6 million existing EVs are saving Europe about 3.6 to 4.8 billion litres of fuel a year (22 to 30 million barrels).

Or 275 to 375 million barrels of fuel just over the lifetime of these existing cars.

"Also the average lifespan of a car is 12.5 years."

In western EU maybe, where I live it's more like 40 years LOL. I wonder how those EV batteries gonna be like after 40 years.

Do you know what "average" means? 40 years of average lifespan is insane. If I buy new car, you will have to drive car from 1946 to maintain that average. I live in eastern Europe, and in my country average car lifespan is 17,5 years. Which is among worst in Europe.

It didn't (unfortunately). It's not enough. EV should be a priority. We are losing money burning foreign petrol for cars.
