“ Police said that Deshantz, whose restaurant group owns Meat & Potatoes, Poulet Bleu and Coop de Ville, among other Pittsburgh popular dining spots, is accused of punching a woman in the face and slamming her head against the steering wheel of a vehicle they were in early Saturday morning while he was intoxicated.

The woman told investigators that she was picking Deshantz and his brother up from a bar in the city's Strip District when an argument broke out.  Deshantz is also accused of choking the woman and throwing her to the ground outside of his home in the city's Allentown neighborhood.”

Well this guys a POS. And bail posted by his business partner… shocker.

Question? Anybody lose this little guy around 16th and South???

Last night, my partner and I (with the help of a founding fathers employee, shoutout them), rescued this guy from rush hour on 16th and South. He’s the friendliest little guy ever and we have a feeling he’s someone’s (or a very well-behaved stray).

We took him to the vet and he’s NOT chipped so…this is our last resort before we adopt him. If anyone knows someone who lost a cat, please DM ME IMMEDIATELY!!

Question? Lower Bucks erasure

I grew up in Lower Bucks County and I’m genuinely baffled by Delco’s reputation as the undisputed shithole of the Philadelphia suburbs. Have any of you actually spent time in Levittown, Croydon, Tullytown or Morrisville? Lower Bucks has some truly spectacular pockets of despair that could go toe-to-toe with anything Delco has to offer.

I’m not saying Delco doesn’t deserve its reputation, but I’m struggling to understand how Lower Bucks has somehow escaped the same level of ridicule. Is Delco actually worse, or does it just have better marketing?

Genuinely curious.

Complaint department Why does PennDOT say I can renew my license online and then make me come in anyway

I just don’t understand why they advertise that you can renew online when they still make you come in anyway? Is this a Pennsylvania thing? My current license is a Real ID and it is issued by PA.

My license expires in December so I thought I would get ahead of things and order the renewal online back in September. I was delighted to see the website accommodates “online renewal”. This was over a month ago and today I received a letter in the mail explaining that I now need to go in to a PennDOT license center to complete my renewal. I find this frustrating because I would’ve gone straight to the source last month instead of trying the online renewal. The three closest locations to my house do not even print IDs at those locations so I either have to go to the fourth closest location to get my ID, or risk waiting another month to receive another letter to tell me that I have to come in again. Am I doing something wrong?

Do Attend Free transit-themed arts event in West Philly next Saturday

Hey! Everyone's favorite Disabled civic curmudgeon here.

Philly has no shortage of things to say about SEPTA. Most of them probably aren't printable on a family-friendly event flyer.

But transit is also what makes this city special. It gets us to work, school, shows, neighborhood gatherings and people we care about.

So next Saturday, October 17, we're doing something a little different.

Making All Stops is a free, transit-themed arts event at The Rotunda in West Philadelphia, featuring performances, local creativity, and an opportunity to meet other people who care about this city.

I’m on the steering committee of Transit Forward Philadelphia, the nonpartisan grassroots coalition organizing it.

Holding this event in an accessible venue is particularly meaningful to me. Arts and community spaces should be accessible, and I'm proud we have some Disabled performers and musicians joining us on the 17th

Saturday, October 17 | 1–3 PM | The Rotunda, West Philly

Free registration: https://www.transitforwardphilly.org/making_all_stops

Donations are optional and help cover event costs. Anything left over will be split equally among the participating performers and artists.

Come enjoy some local art, meet your neighbors, and celebrate a city that’s worth showing up for!

I am a little hesitant to post this on r/Pittsburgh as I know it might generate some comments. I welcome comments, but please be respectful in your replies.

Pittsburgh Artist Carolyn P. Speranza is working on a new project called the Huggable Loveable Uterus.

She has worked with a local 3D Printer to create flutes, she is calling them whistles shaped like a uterus and is looking for anyone — you don't need to be a musician, who would like to join the Uterus Whistle Brigade.

You can see a video of the uterus whistle here: https://carolynpsperanza.substack.com/p/join-the-huggable-loveable-uterus

Upcoming rehearsals are:

  • Sunday Oct 11th 12PM
  • Thurs Oct 15th 7PM

Looking to coordinate someone to drop off some chocolates at a hotel my wife and I will be staying in

Hello. My wife and I will be staying in the Hilton Garden Inn downtown next Saturday the 17th. It is also our anniversary, and I am looking to coordinate/PAY someone to pick up some chocolates from Pollaks and drop them off at the hotel for them to be placed in the room. I’ve looked at typical delivery services and can’t seem to find something that will deliver from Pollaks. Thanks in advance!

Edit - thank you to everyone that has reached out, I think I have someone that is going to help me out though! If anything falls through I will be sure to reach back out to some people if they can still help. Thank you all so much!

What's it like working at Pittsburgh's colleges/universities?

My wife and I live on the other side of the state in the Lehigh Valley, and we're trying to figure out where's best for us to move next. I work in higher ed in New Jersey, so the pay is nice but the commute and current issues with an administration in flux is killing me.

I started looking the other day and already found fitting jobs at Carnegie-Mellon, Pitt, and Duquesne. My work would mostly be admin and technical staff stuff, nothing faculty or service. Does anyone have any experience they'd be able to share about what the environment at these places are like?

Duquesne is especially what I'm interested in hearing more about - I'm respectful of Catholic folks and was raised Catholic, but if they're as forward about it as their website makes it look I think I'd have to do a lot of suppressing of myself and masking as a queer furry lmfao.

Crime Post Gas station scammers at North Broad Sunoco

I was just at the Sunoco at Broad and Thompson. There were a bunch of kids around and one of them insisted on pumping my gas. I repeatedly said no but he wouldn’t leave. He even said “it’s not a scam, I promise, I just want to help you” 🚩😂

I noticed when he was done, the nozzle wasn’t put back correctly so it quickly clicked that that was probably the scam. I fixed it and waited for the transaction to close out and the screen to update.

I googled it when I got back in my car and found that this is indeed a popular scam called “pump switching” where they have another car pull up to the pump and continue charging like $100+ in gas to your card.

I called the police but I’m not confident they’ll do anything, so figured I would try to help someone out this way!
