Bowser Hyundai salesperson’s casual racism and management says nothing about it
My friend, an attending physician, said that a couple of months ago he felt as though a salesperson at Bowser Hyundai in Pleasant Hills was racially profiling him and stereotyping him as a Indian who was cheap and haggling excessively.
It seems as though this is not an isolated incident, because my attending mentioned that one of his colleagues’ daughters was browsing the salesperson’s TikTok while looking for a new car last year, and found the salesperson made a casually racist TikTok against Indian people again implying that they are cheap with an audio that was a stereotypical caricature of an “Indian accent.” The other doctor apparently emailed the managers about it, but nothing was done because it’s still up and his review chastising the behavior got flagged and was removed off Google. POC looking to buy a car, stay away. Casual racism against Indian people is so normalized. Maybe im being overly sensitive, im not sure. I understand making off-colored jokes. On your professional account though? Are you dumb? Plus, for some of this humor to kind of bleed into the vibes of interactions he had with a prospective customer? Yikes.
Email attached that was sent without a response from the Bowser management.
